INTRODUCTION — WHY THIS MESSAGE MATTERS TODAY

In this Dispensation of Grace, one of Satan’s greatest deceptions is mixing works with grace. Many honor the cross with words, yet deny its sufficiency by trusting their performance.

Paul warns us that salvation is not improved by effort, but received by faith alone.
To add works is not humility — it is an insult to Calvary.
Galatians 2:21 — “If righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain.”

PRINCIPLE OF THE CROSS
1 Corinthians 1:18

A. Proclaimed Power – The cross is God’s chosen means of salvation
B. Perfect Payment – Christ finished what sinners never could
C. Pure Provision – Nothing can be added to Christ’s work
Dispensational Truth:
The cross is complete, not conditional.

PROBLEM WITH PERFORMANCE
Romans 10:3

A. Self-Righteousness – Trusting human effort
B. Scriptural Rejection – Ignoring God’s righteousness
C. Subtle Rebellion – Refusing grace alone
Works deny the need for a Savior.

PRIDE OF THE FLESH
Ephesians 2:9

A. Boasting Spirit – “I did my part”
B. Borrowed Glory – Taking credit God deserves
C. Blind Confidence – Trusting flesh over faith
Grace removes all grounds for pride.

POWER OF HIS BLOOD
Romans 5:9

A. Shed Blood – Payment for sin
B. Sufficient Blood – No repetition required
C. Securing Blood – Eternal justification
Blood saves — not behavior.

PAULINE GOSPEL
1 Corinthians 15:1–4

A. Death for Sins – Substitutionary sacrifice
B. Burial Confirmed – Death fully accomplished
C. Resurrection Declared – Justification completed
This gospel alone saves today.

POSITION IN CHRIST
2 Corinthians 5:21

A. Imputed Righteousness – Christ’s righteousness credited
B. Instant Standing – Complete at salvation
C. Irreversible Status – Secure forever
God sees the believer in Christ, not in works.

PROMISE OF SECURITY
Ephesians 1:13–14

A. Sealed Believer – God’s ownership
B. Spirit’s Earnest – Down payment of eternity
C. Sure Redemption – Guaranteed inheritance
Salvation is sealed, not sustained by effort.

PERIL OF MIXING
Galatians 5:4

A. Fallen from Grace – Living outside grace truth
B. Frustrated Faith – Loss of assurance
C. False Assurance – Trusting works instead of Christ
Mixing law and grace always produces confusion.

PROPER RESPONSE
Romans 4:5

A. Believe Only – Faith without works
B. Rest Fully – Trust Christ alone
C. Rejoice Freely – Assurance in grace
Salvation is received, not achieved.

CONCLUSION — THE CROSS NEEDS NO HELP

Every nail, every drop of blood, every cry of “It is finished” declares one truth:
Christ did enough.
Hebrews 10:14 — “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.”

CALL TO ACTION — CHOOSE GRACE TODAY

Stop trusting effort
Stop adding religion
Start resting in Christ
Acts 16:31 — “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
Believe the Gospel.
Stand in Grace.
Glory in the Cross.

FINAL THOUGHTS

The cross needs no assistance
Grace allows no additions
Faith accepts no substitutes
Works produce no salvation
Christ deserves all the glory
When we trust our works, we insult the power of the cross —
but when we trust Christ alone, we honor Calvary.
