WE NEED JESUS TO LIVE — THE ESSENTIAL CHRIST

INTRODUCTION

In the physical world, science says life depends on essentials—water, air, food, and light.
But the Bible reveals a deeper truth: Jesus Christ fulfills every essential of life—spiritually and eternally.

From a dispensational (Pauline) perspective, Christ is not merely an example for Israel but the very life of the Church, the Body of Christ (Colossians 3:4).
Let us see why Jesus is not optional, but essential.

THE SOURCE OF LIFE — JESUS, THE LIVING WATER
John 4:14; 1 Corinthians 10:4

Refreshing Grace – Only Christ quenches spiritual thirst permanently
Redeeming Supply – Life flows from Him, not from religion
Renewing Satisfaction – Grace does not run dry in this dispensation
Without water, the body dies. Without Christ, the soul perishes.

THE SUSTAINER OF LIFE — JESUS, THE BREATH OF LIFE
John 20:22; Colossians 2:13

Quickening Power – We were dead, now alive in Christ
Continual Dependence – Every moment lived “in Him”
Complete Vitality – Spiritual life sustained by grace, not effort
As air sustains the lungs, Christ sustains the believer.

THE STRENGTH OF LIFE — JESUS, THE BREAD OF LIFE
John 6:35; 1 Corinthians 5:7

Satisfying Provision – Christ alone fills the hunger of the soul
Sufficient Sacrifice – No additions needed to His finished work
Spiritual Nourishment – Feeding on Christ through faith, not works
Religion feeds rules; Christ feeds life.

THE SHINING OF LIFE — JESUS, THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD
John 8:12; Ephesians 5:8

Revealing Truth – Grace dispels darkness and confusion
Redeeming Direction – We walk by light, not by law
Radiant Hope – Light that no darkness can overcome
Without light, we stumble; without Christ, we are blind.

THE SAVIOR OF LIFE — JESUS, THE FINISHED WORK
1 Corinthians 15:1–4; Romans 4:25

Perfect Payment – Sin fully dealt with at Calvary
Proven Victory – Resurrection guarantees life
Present Assurance – Salvation rests on Christ alone
Life is not earned—it is received.

THE SEAL OF LIFE — JESUS, OUR SECURITY
Ephesians 1:13–14; Colossians 2:10

Permanent Position – Sealed until the day of redemption
Protected Standing – Kept by God, not by self
Plentiful Assurance – Complete in Him
Life secured by grace, not sustained by fear.

THE SCOPE OF LIFE — JESUS FOR ALL MEN
1 Timothy 2:4–6; Romans 10:12

Universal Invitation – Grace offered to all
Unrestricted Access – No ethnic or covenant barriers
Unified Body – One Body, one Lord, one life
This is not Israel’s kingdom gospel, but Christ’s gospel of grace.

THE STRENGTH FOR LIFE — JESUS, OUR DAILY WALK
Galatians 2:20; Romans 8:10

Crucified Self – Less me, more Christ
Controlled Living – Christ lives through us
Continual Growth – Grace teaches us how to live
We don’t just receive life—we walk in it.

THE SUMMIT OF LIFE — JESUS, OUR HOPE & GLORY
Colossians 3:4; Titus 2:13

Future Glory – Life will be revealed with Him
Faithful Expectation – Looking for His appearing
Final Fulfillment – Eternal life fully realized
Life now by grace… glory soon with Christ.

CONCLUSION

Science is right about physical life—but Scripture is clearer about eternal life.
Without Jesus, there is no true life.
With Jesus, we have life abundant now and everlasting forever (John 10:10).

CALL TO ACTION

Believe in Christ alone for salvation
Rest in His finished work, not your efforts
Walk daily in the life He provides
Proclaim: We don’t just need Jesus—we LIVE by Him!

Jesus is not an addition—He is the foundation
Grace is not weak—it is sufficient
Life is not found in religion—but in Christ
