THE RAPTURE OF THE CHURCH
Introduction
The rapture of the Church, the Body of Christ, is a blessed hope (Titus 2:13). Unlike Israel’s earthly kingdom program, the Church has a heavenly destiny. The catching away (1 Thess. 4:13–18; 1 Cor. 15:51–53) is unique to this dispensation of grace, revealed to Paul as part of the mystery. Sadly, many confuse it with the Second Coming of Christ to Israel. Let us rightly divide and rejoice in this glorious event!
The Promise of the Rapture
Declared by Paul – A mystery revealed, not in prophecy (1 Cor. 15:51).
Designed by God – To complete His purpose for the Body.
Delivered as Hope – Comfort for the saints (1 Thess. 4:18).
The People of the Rapture
Body of Christ Only – Not Israel, not tribulation saints.
Believers in the Gospel – Those who trusted Christ’s finished work.
Blessed in Christ – Sealed until the day of redemption (Eph. 1:13).
The Place of the Rapture
Caught into Clouds – Meeting Christ in the air.
Carried into Heaven – Not to earthly Jerusalem.
Comfort in Glory – Our eternal citizenship above (Phil. 3:20).
The Power of the Rapture
Resurrection Power – Dead in Christ rise first.
Renewing Power – Living saints changed in a moment.
Redemptive Power – Mortal put on immortality.
The Purpose of the Rapture
Rescue from Wrath – Delivered from the coming tribulation (1 Thess. 1:10).
Reunion with Christ – To ever be with the Lord.
Revealing of Glory – Display of God’s grace in ages to come.
The Plan of the Rapture
Secret Revealed – Hidden in mystery until Paul.
Sequence Recorded – Dead first, living next, together caught up.
Sudden Reality – In the twinkling of an eye.
The Priority of the Rapture
Grace Program Ends – The Body completed, no more added.
Government Shifts – Prophecy resumes with Israel.
Glory Begins – Heavenly reign of the Body of Christ.
The Pattern of Expectation
Looking Daily – Waiting for the blessed hope.
Living Godly – Purity motivated by promise.
Laboring Faithfully – Steadfast until the trumpet sounds.
The Protection in the Rapture
From Wrath Below – No Church saint in tribulation.
From Woe Ahead – Saved from the time of Jacob’s trouble.
From Works Salvation – Sealed under grace, not enduring law.
The Prophecy Distinction
Israel’s Second Coming – Earthly, visible, to reign on David’s throne.
Church’s Rapture – Heavenly, hidden, meeting in the air.
Proper Division – Keeps gospel of grace pure.
The Proofs of the Rapture
Scriptural Authority – Paul’s epistles affirm it.
Spiritual Comfort – Encouragement for the Body.
Sound Division – No prophecy speaks of it, only mystery.
The Praise at the Rapture
Christ Exalted – Glory to the Head of the Body.
Church Completed – Body presented without spot.
Celebration Eternal – Forever with the Lord.
Conclusion
The rapture is not a dream, but a divine mystery revealed to Paul. It is not Israel’s kingdom hope, but the Body’s heavenly calling. When the trumpet sounds, we will be caught up, changed, and united forever with Christ. This is not tradition but truth rightly divided.
