Earthly Riches or Eternal Riches?

INTRODUCTION

Money has power—but only temporary power.
The Gospel has power—but eternal power.
In the Dispensation of the Grace of God, believers must choose whether they will live by earthly riches or heavenly riches in Christ.
“Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not high-minded…” — 1 Timothy 6:17

A. Material Source — Money comes from this world
B. Mighty Source — Gospel comes from God
C. Manifest Source — Gospel reveals God’s righteousness
Money is worldly power; the Gospel is divine power.

SCOPE — WHAT THE POWER AFFECTS

A. Short-Term — Money affects the present life
B. Spiritual — Gospel blesses heavenly places
C. Secure — Gospel blessings cannot be lost
Money touches pockets; the Gospel transforms position in Christ.

STABILITY — HOW LONG THE POWER LASTS
Proverbs 23:5 | 2 Corinthians 4:18

A. Fading — Riches fly away
B. Fleeting — Wealth passes with time
C. Forever — Gospel riches are eternal
Temporary wealth vs. timeless truth.

STRESS — WHAT THE POWER PRODUCES
Ecclesiastes 5:12 | Philippians 4:7

A. Worry — Money brings anxiety
B. Weight — Riches burden the soul
C. Wellness — Gospel brings peace beyond understanding
Money multiplies fear; grace multiplies peace.

SELF — WHO THE POWER SERVES

A. Self-Gratification — Money feeds the flesh
B. Self-Glory — Riches exalt man
C. Self-Denial — Gospel exalts Christ
Money serves me; the Gospel serves Christ in me.

SALVATION — WHAT THE POWER CANNOT DO

A. Cannot Redeem — Money can’t save
B. Cannot Ransom — Wealth buys nothing eternal
C. Completely Free — Salvation is by grace
Money fails where the cross finished the work.

SECURITY — WHERE CONFIDENCE RESTS

C. Permanent Power — Nothing separates us from Christ
The Gospel always wins.

Money promises much—but delivers little.
