THE LAW THAT CONDEMNS vs. THE LAW THAT QUICKENS

(Romans 7–8 | Rightly Divided Truth)

INTRODUCTION

Many believers live saved—but defeated, forgiven—yet fearful.
Why? Because they confuse the Law of Moses with the Law of the Spirit.

The Law was never given to save, empower, or sanctify the Church.
It was given to expose sin—not to remove it.
Paul, by revelation, reveals a new operating principle:

“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans 8:2)

Today, we will clearly divide LAW vs. LIFE through 9 DISPENSATIONAL TRUTHS.

STONE vs. SPIRIT
Romans 7:6; 2 Corinthians 3:3

A. Written on Stone – External commands, external pressure
B. Written in the Heart – Internal power, internal life
C. Oldness vs. Newness – Letter kills, Spirit gives life
Dispensational Insight:
The Church is not governed by tablets—but by the indwelling Spirit.

DEMAND vs. DYNAMIC
Galatians 3:10; Galatians 2:20

A. Law Demands Perfection – “Do and live”
B. Spirit Supplies Power – “Christ liveth in me”
C. Flesh Fails, Spirit Functions – Grace energizes obedience
Law commands what it cannot enable—grace enables what God commands.

DISCLOSURE vs. DELIVERANCE
Romans 3:20; Romans 8:1–2

A. Law Reveals Sin – Mirror, not cleanser
B. Spirit Removes Condemnation – No guilt remaining
C. Freedom Replaces Fear – Delivered from sin’s penalty
The Law diagnoses; the Spirit cures.

CONDEMNATION vs. CONFIDENCE
2 Corinthians 3:7; Romans 5:1

A. Ministry of Condemnation – Fear before God
B. Ministry of Righteousness – Peace with God
C. Judgment vs. Justification – Standing settled in Christ
Grace does not produce fear—it produces assurance.

DEATH vs. DIRECTION
Romans 7:10; Romans 8:2

A. Law Ends in Death – Sin revived, man died
B. Spirit Leads to Life – Walk empowered
C. Bondage vs. Liberty – Freedom to serve, not sin
Law restrains externally; Spirit transforms internally.

FLESH vs. FAITH

A. Flesh Cannot Obey – No good thing dwells there
B. Faith Walks in Christ – Life flows from union
C. Striving vs. Resting – Victory flows from belief
Christian living is not self-effort—it is Christ-expression.

PERFORMANCE vs. POSITION
Romans 4:4–5; Ephesians 1:6

A. Law Rewards Workers – Wages earned
B. Grace Blesses Believers – Acceptance gifted
C. Standing Secured – “Accepted in the Beloved”
You don’t work for acceptance—you work from acceptance.

BONDAGE vs. BELONGING
Galatians 4:24–26; Romans 8:15

A. Law Produces Slaves – Fearful obedience
B. Spirit Confirms Sonship – Crying “Abba, Father”
C. Servants vs. Sons – Relationship replaces religion
Sons obey from love, not fear.

MINISTRY OF MOSES vs. MYSTERY OF CHRIST
Romans 10:4; Colossians 1:25–27

A. Moses Governed Israel – Earthly covenant
B. Christ Ends the Law – For righteousness today
C. Mystery Revealed to Paul – Christ in you, the hope of glory
The Church lives by revelation, not regulation.
