THE KINGDOM OF GOD: TWO REALMS β€” ONE KING

Rightly Dividing Earthly Promises from Heavenly Purpose
Key Text: Ephesians 1:10 (KJV)
β€œThat in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him.”

INTRODUCTION

Confusion about the Kingdom of God comes from failure to rightly divide.

The Bible reveals one Kingdom, but operating in two distinct realms:
β€’ An EARTHLY REALM promised to Israel
β€’ A HEAVENLY REALM revealed to the Body of Christ

Dispensational truth clarifies that Christ will rule BOTH, yet each realm has a different people, position, and purpose.

DESIGNATED DOMAINS

Matthew 5:5; Ephesians 2:6 (KJV)

A. Earthly Domain – Israel inherits the earth
B. Heavenly Domain – Church seated in heavenly places
C. Divided Destinations – Earth below, heaven above
Dispensational Insight:
Israel’s hope is down here; our hope is up there.

DISTINCT PEOPLES

Deuteronomy 7:6; 1 Corinthians 12:13 (KJV)

A. Chosen Nation – Israel separated by covenant
B. Created Body – Church formed by Spirit baptism
C. Different Callings – Earthly vs heavenly
Truth:
The Church is not spiritual Israel.

DIFFERENT GOVERNMENT
Isaiah 9:6–7; Ephesians 1:22–23 (KJV)

A. King Over Nations – Christ rules Israel as King
B. Head Over Body – Christ leads the Church as Head
C. Authority Expressed Differently – Throne vs Headship
Pauline Doctrine:
Christ is King to Israel, Head to the Church.

DEFINED PROMISES
Genesis 17:8; Philippians 3:20 (KJV)

A. Land Promised – Israel receives physical territory
B. Citizenship Promised – Church belongs to heaven
C. Different Inheritances – Earthly land vs heavenly glory
Right Division:
You cannot claim Israel’s land promises without confusion.

DISTINCT PROCLAMATIONS
Matthew 4:17; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

A. Gospel of the Kingdom – Repent for the earthly kingdom
B. Gospel of Grace – Believe for heavenly salvation
C. Message Matters – Different gospels, different aims
Clarity:
Paul’s gospel reveals the heavenly calling.

DIFFERENT ADMINISTRATIONS
Matthew 10:5–7; Ephesians 3:1–2 (KJV)

A. Kingdom Offered – Earthly program to Israel
B. Mystery Revealed – Heavenly program to the Church
C. Dispensation of Grace – A pause in Israel’s program
Pauline Emphasis:
The Church lives in a parenthetical dispensation.

DIVERSE EXPECTATIONS
Acts 1:6; Titus 2:13 (KJV)

A. Kingdom Restored – Israel awaits earthly reign
B. Rapture Expected – Church awaits heavenly departure
C. Different Hopes – Kingdom vs catching away
Dispensational Hope:
The Church is not waiting for a throneβ€”but a trumpet.

DISTINCT JUDGMENTS
Matthew 25:31–32; 2 Corinthians 5:10 (KJV)

A. Judgment of Nations – Earthly accountability
B. Judgment Seat of Christ – Heavenly rewards
C. Condemnation Removed – No judgment for sin for the Church
Grace Assurance:
Believers are judged for service, not salvation.

DOMINANT KING

Revelation 5:10; Colossians 1:16–20 (KJV)

A. Earth Under His Feet – Christ reigns visibly
B. Heaven Under His Headship – Christ governs spiritually
C. Unified Rule – One King over all realms
Final Dispensation:
Christ will rule EVERYWHERE, yet distinctly.

CONCLUSION

There is one Kingdom of God,
but two realms,
with one glorious King.
Failure to divide these truths leads to confusion, contradiction, and false doctrine.
Right division brings clarity, confidence, and correct hope.
