STANDING FAST IN THE TRUTH

β€œThy word is truth” – John 17:17 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

We live in an age where truth is questioned, altered, exchanged, and abandoned. Scripture warns that deception will increase, especially in the Dispensation of Grace, where Satan attacks doctrine more than morality.

God has not left the Church without direction. Truth is revealed, received, rightly divided, and responsibly defended. The believer’s stability depends entirely on their relationship to God’s Word, rightly understood.

β‘  THE SOURCE OF TRUTH

John 17:17

A. Divine Origin – Truth comes from God alone. (John 17:17)

B. Declared Authority – God’s Word defines truth. (Psalm 119:160)

C. Doctrinal Absoluteness – Truth never changes. (Mal. 3:6)

Truth is not culturalβ€”it is scriptural.

β‘‘ THE HEARING OF TRUTH

Ephesians 1:13

A. Gospel Proclaimed – Truth must be heard. (Eph. 1:13)

B. Grace Presented – Salvation message clarified. (Rom. 10:17)

C. Guarantee Promised – Sealed upon belief. (Eph. 1:13)

No hearing, no believing.

β‘’ THE BELIEVING OF TRUTH

1 Timothy 4:3

A. Faith Required – Truth must be believed. (1 Tim. 4:3)

B. Fables Rejected – Error opposed. (2 Tim. 4:4)

C. Foundation Established – Faith rests on truth. (Col. 1:5)

Truth rejected becomes deception accepted.

β‘£ THE KNOWING OF TRUTH

John 8:32

A. Personal Understanding – Truth must be learned. (John 8:32)

B. Progressive Growth – Knowledge increases. (Col. 1:10)

C. Practical Freedom – Truth liberates. (John 8:32)

Ignorance produces bondage.

β‘€ THE OBEYING OF TRUTH

1 Peter 1:22

A. Purified Souls – Obedience brings fruit. (1 Pet. 1:22)

B. Practical Sanctification – Walk aligns with doctrine. (Rom. 6:17)

C. Proper Love – Truth produces charity. (Gal. 5:6)

Obedience flows from understanding.

β‘₯ THE SPEAKING OF TRUTH

Ephesians 4:15

A. Loving Communication – Truth with grace. (Eph. 4:15)

B. Light Confrontation – Error exposed gently. (2 Tim. 2:25)

C. Life Consistency – Words match walk. (Phil. 1:27)

Truth spoken without love becomes harsh; love without truth becomes hollow.

⑦ THE STRAYING FROM TRUTH WARNED

1 Timothy 2:18

A. Doctrinal Deviation – Truth can be abandoned. (1 Tim. 2:18)

B. Destructive Effects – Faith overthrown. (v.18)

C. Discernment Needed – Guard doctrine. (1 Tim. 6:20)

Truth must be guarded.

⑧ THE TURNING FROM TRUTH CONDEMNED

Titus 1:14

A. Jewish Fables – Mixing dispensations. (Titus 1:14)

B. Just-Man Commandments – Traditions replace truth. (Mark 7:7)

C. Judicial Blindness – God allows deception. (Rom. 11:8)

Turning from truth invites error.

⑨ THE TRADING OF TRUTH EXPOSED

Romans 1:25

A. Exchange Made – Truth swapped for lies. (Rom. 1:25)

B. Error Magnified – False worship follows. (Rom. 1:23)

C. Eternal Consequences – Reprobate mind results. (Rom. 1:28)

Truth exchanged is truth lost.

CONCLUSION

Truth must be heard, believed, known, obeyed, and spokenβ€”or it will be abandoned, avoided, and exchanged. The Church today is not collapsing from persecution, but from doctrinal neglect.

Only rightly divided truth will anchor believers in these last days.
