SPEAK LIFE!

Rightly Dividing the Power of Words in the Dispensation of Grace

Proverbs 18:21 (KJV) β€” β€œDeath and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”

INTRODUCTION

Words are not neutral. According to Scripture, words carry powerβ€”to build or to break, to heal or to hurt, to reflect truth or spread error. Yet many believers misuse verses about speaking without rightly dividing the Word of truth (2 Timothy 2:15).

In this Dispensational (Pauline) message, we will see how SPEAKING LIFE is not mystical confession, not law-based decrees, but Spirit-led, truth-filled speech grounded in grace for the Church, the Body of Christ.

Today we will examine 9 DISPENSATIONAL TRUTHS about speaking life.

SAVED TONGUE

Romans 10:9–10

A. Confession of Faith – The mouth confesses salvation, not earns it
B. Converted Speech – Grace changes the speaker before the speech
C. Christ-Centered Words – Our words now point to Christ alone
Dispensational Insight: Speaking life begins after salvation, not as a means to get saved.

SUBMITTED SPEECH
Colossians 3:16

A. Word-Dwelling Tongue – Christ’s Word governs our speech
B. Sound Doctrine Language – Truth controls tone and content
C. Spirit-Directed Expression – Speech flows from renewed minds
Right Division: Our speech is shaped by Pauline doctrine, not kingdom law.

SEPARATED SAYING
Ephesians 4:29

A. No Corrupt Communication – Rotten words deny grace
B. Edifying Expression – Words should build, not burden
C. Gracious Delivery – Truth spoken in love
Dispensation of Grace: Grace governs not only salvationβ€”but conversation.

SCRIPTURAL SPEAKING
2 Timothy 2:15

A. Rightly Divided Words – Truth in proper context
B. Removed from Confusion – No mixing law and grace
C. Revealed Mystery Language – Paul’s gospel defines our message
Warning: Misapplied verses lead to destructive speech.

SOBER STATEMENTS

Titus 2:7–8

A. Sound Speech – Healthy doctrine produces healthy words
B. Serious Tone – Reverence replaces recklessness
C. Shame-Free Testimony – No contradiction in message
Dispensational Balance: Bold, but not brash. Confident, but not carnal.

SPIRIT-EMPOWERED SPEECH
Ephesians 5:18–20

A. Filled Control – Spirit leads, flesh yields
B. Thankful Language – Gratitude fuels godly speech
C. Worshipful Words – Praise replaces profanity
Not Charismatic Decrees β€” but Spirit-controlled communication.

SEED-SOWING SAYINGS
Galatians 6:7–8

A. Words as Seeds – Speech produces fruit
B. Flesh vs Spirit Language – Choice determines harvest
C. Long-Term Impact – Words echo beyond moments
Grace Truth: We reap consequences, not salvation loss.

STEADFAST STATEMENTS
1 Corinthians 15:58

A. Unmovable Speech – Grounded in truth
B. Unashamed Testimony – No fear of men
C. Unceasing Edification – Consistent encouragement
Pauline Focus: Labor in word is not in vain in the Lord.

SAVIOUR-EXALTING SPEECH
Colossians 1:27–28

A. Christ in You – Source of life-filled words
B. Christ Preached – Not self, not success
C. Christ Glorified – Purpose of all speech
Ultimate Truth: Speaking life is speaking Christ.

CONCLUSION

Speaking life is not positive thinkingβ€”it is doctrinal thinking expressed through the tongue. When believers rightly divide the Word, their speech aligns with grace, truth, and spiritual maturity.
The tongue reveals theology.
Doctrine shapes dialogue.
Grace governs speech.
