SIN WILL PULL YOU DOWN β€” ONLY THE GOSPEL CAN LIFT YOU UP

1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)
Romans–Philemon (Church, Body of Christ)

INTRODUCTION

Sin is not neutral. It is not harmless. It is a downward force that enslaves, blinds, and ultimately condemns. The image before us shows a man being dragged down by lust, pride, greed, anger, and gluttonyβ€”a clear picture of Adam’s fallen nature (Romans 5:12).
But God did not leave man sinking. He revealed ONE saving messageβ€”the Gospel of the Grace of God, committed to the Apostle Paul.

Truth: Sin condemns β€” the Gospel saves.
Question: Are you in your sins or in Christ?

SINKING CONDITION
Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1

A. Dead in Sin – Not wounded, but spiritually dead
B. Dragged Downward – Sin always pulls, never lifts
C. Doomed by Nature – Born in Adam, under wrath
Dispensational Insight:
Man’s problem is not behavior reform but spiritual deathβ€”only grace can revive.

SLAVERY OF SIN
Romans 6:16–17; John 8:34

A. Bound by Lust – Flesh dominates the will
B. Chained by Pride – Self replaces God
C. Controlled by Corruption – No freedom apart from Christ
Sin promises pleasure but delivers bondage.

SEPARATION FROM GOD
Isaiah 59:2; Ephesians 2:12

A. Alienated Spiritually – No fellowship with God
B. Access Denied – No approach without Christ
C. Absent Hope – Without God in the world
Separation is the real horror of sinβ€”not just hell.

SENTENCE OF DEATH
Romans 6:23; Hebrews 9:27

A. Wages Earned – Death is deserved
B. Wrath Awaiting – Judgment is certain
C. Without Excuse – All are guilty
Law condemns; grace delivers.

SUBSTITUTE PROVIDED
1 Corinthians 15:3; Romans 5:8

A. Christ Died for Our Sins – Substitution
B. Cross Satisfied Justice – Propitiation
C. Curse Was Removed – Redemption accomplished
God judged sin once, fully, in Christ.

SUFFICIENT PAYMENT

Hebrews 10:10–14; Colossians 2:13

A. Finished Work – β€œIt is finished”
B. Full Forgiveness – No sin left unpaid
C. Forever Effective – Eternal redemption
No works added. No rituals required.

SIMPLE REQUIREMENT
Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8–9

A. Believe the Gospel – Trust Christ alone
B. Believe by Faith Alone – No works, no law
C. Believe Now – Salvation is present tense
Faith is not a feelingβ€”it is reliance.

SECURE POSITION
Romans 8:1; Ephesians 1:13

A. In Christ – No condemnation
B. Indwelt by the Spirit – Permanent sealing
C. Irrevocable Salvation – Kept by God
Grace does not lose what grace saves.

SEPARATION FROM SIN’S POWER
Romans 6:6–14; Galatians 2:20

A. Crucified with Christ – Old man judged
B. Called to Walk New – New identity
C. Controlled by Grace – Not law, but love
Grace teaches holiness without threatening hell.

CONCLUSION

Sin pulls down, but Christ lifts up.
Hell is real. Judgment is certain. But salvation is available NOW.
The same Gospel that saves also rescues from sin’s grip.
In Adam β€” sinking.
In Christ β€” saved forever.
