Salvation for the Soul—Available Today
2 Corinthians 6:2 – “…behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.”
Introduction
Salvation is the greatest need of man because sin separates man from God (Romans 3:23).
Many postpone salvation, but God’s Word emphasizes “today”—salvation is urgent and available now.
In this dispensation of grace, God offers salvation to all freely through faith in the finished work of Christ (Romans 3:24; Ephesians 2:8–9).
1. Salvation is from God
Source of Salvation:
Salvation is not from man’s religion, works, or traditions—it is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9).
In time past, Israel’s salvation was tied to their covenant and kingdom promises (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).
But today, under Paul’s gospel, salvation is offered directly by God through Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).
God’s initiative:
God commended His love toward us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8).
It is God who reconciles the world unto Himself through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19).
Dispensational Truth: In this present dispensation, God is not requiring the works of the Law, temple sacrifices, or kingdom signs for salvation. He gives salvation directly through the gospel of grace revealed to Paul.
2. Salvation is a Free Gift
Not by works:
Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.”
Titus 3:5 – Not by works of righteousness which we have done.
Completely free:
Unlike the Old Testament where obedience to the Law was required, today salvation is without cost—Christ already paid the full price (Romans 6:23).
Paul never preaches “repent and be baptized for remission of sins” (Acts 2:38), but “believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved” (Acts 16:31).
Faith alone:
Faith is simply trusting the finished work of Christ, apart from any religious ceremony or ritual.
Dispensational Truth: Israel’s gospel required works accompanying faith (James 2:24; Matthew 19:17). But our gospel of grace requires no works—it is entirely a gift received by faith.
3. Salvation is Fully Guaranteed
Eternal Security:
Once saved, always saved. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13–14).
Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38–39).
Complete in Christ:
Colossians 2:10 – “And ye are complete in Him.”
The believer’s salvation is not probationary but permanent, because it rests on Christ’s finished work.
Assurance:
Salvation today is guaranteed not by our performance, but by Christ’s promise (2 Timothy 1:12).
We are no longer under wrath (Romans 5:9).
Dispensational Truth: Israel’s salvation was conditional on their enduring to the end (Matthew 24:13) and obedience under the Law. But in this dispensation, salvation is unconditional once received by faith—sealed and secure in Christ.
Conclusion
Salvation is from God—He alone provides it.
Salvation is a free gift—no works, no cost, only faith in Christ.
Salvation is fully guaranteed—sealed, secure, and eternal.
The urgency: God says “Today”—not tomorrow, not later.
Invitation: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.” (Acts 16:31).
