Salvation for the Soulโ€”Available Today

2 Corinthians 6:2 โ€“ โ€œโ€ฆbehold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.โ€

Introduction

Salvation is the greatest need of man because sin separates man from God (Romans 3:23).

Many postpone salvation, but Godโ€™s Word emphasizes โ€œtodayโ€โ€”salvation is urgent and available now.

In this dispensation of grace, God offers salvation to all freely through faith in the finished work of Christ (Romans 3:24; Ephesians 2:8โ€“9).

1. Salvation is from God

Source of Salvation:

Salvation is not from manโ€™s religion, works, or traditionsโ€”it is of the Lord (Jonah 2:9).

In time past, Israelโ€™s salvation was tied to their covenant and kingdom promises (Acts 2:38; Mark 16:16).

But today, under Paulโ€™s gospel, salvation is offered directly by God through Christโ€™s death, burial, and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1โ€“4).

Godโ€™s initiative:

God commended His love toward us while we were yet sinners (Romans 5:8).

It is God who reconciles the world unto Himself through Christ (2 Corinthians 5:19).

Dispensational Truth: In this present dispensation, God is not requiring the works of the Law, temple sacrifices, or kingdom signs for salvation. He gives salvation directly through the gospel of grace revealed to Paul.

2. Salvation is a Free Gift

Not by works:

Ephesians 2:8โ€“9 โ€“ โ€œFor by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.โ€

Titus 3:5 โ€“ Not by works of righteousness which we have done.

Completely free:

Unlike the Old Testament where obedience to the Law was required, today salvation is without costโ€”Christ already paid the full price (Romans 6:23).

Paul never preaches โ€œrepent and be baptized for remission of sinsโ€ (Acts 2:38), but โ€œbelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be savedโ€ (Acts 16:31).

Faith alone:

Faith is simply trusting the finished work of Christ, apart from any religious ceremony or ritual.

Dispensational Truth: Israelโ€™s gospel required works accompanying faith (James 2:24; Matthew 19:17). But our gospel of grace requires no worksโ€”it is entirely a gift received by faith.

3. Salvation is Fully Guaranteed

Eternal Security:

Once saved, always saved. We are sealed with the Holy Spirit until the day of redemption (Ephesians 1:13โ€“14).

Nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:38โ€“39).

Complete in Christ:

Colossians 2:10 โ€“ โ€œAnd ye are complete in Him.โ€

The believerโ€™s salvation is not probationary but permanent, because it rests on Christโ€™s finished work.

Assurance:

Salvation today is guaranteed not by our performance, but by Christโ€™s promise (2 Timothy 1:12).

We are no longer under wrath (Romans 5:9).

Dispensational Truth: Israelโ€™s salvation was conditional on their enduring to the end (Matthew 24:13) and obedience under the Law. But in this dispensation, salvation is unconditional once received by faithโ€”sealed and secure in Christ.

Conclusion

Salvation is from Godโ€”He alone provides it.

Salvation is a free giftโ€”no works, no cost, only faith in Christ.

Salvation is fully guaranteedโ€”sealed, secure, and eternal.

The urgency: God says โ€œTodayโ€โ€”not tomorrow, not later.

Invitation: โ€œBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.โ€ (Acts 16:31).
