Salvation Cannot Be Bought With Obedience - It Was Purchased by His Blood
Salvation Is a PURCHASE, Not a PAYMENT We Make
People often confuse obedience with salvation, but Scripture is crystal clear:
We do not buy salvation with our performance.
Christ purchased salvation with His own blood.
Ephesians 1:7 (KJV)
โIn whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;โ
Redemption = a purchase, a payment made to set someone free.
The paying was done by Christ - not by us.
Our โobedience,โ โsurrender,โ โcommitment,โ โbaptism,โ or โturning from sinโ NEVER appear in Paulโs gospel as payment for sin.
Our Works Can NEVER Be the Currency of Salvation
Salvation is not a reward for the obedient.
It is a free gift to the ungodly who believe.
Romans 4:4โ5 (KJV)
โNow to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.โ
If obedience could purchase salvation, then salvation would be a debt, not grace.
Paul destroys the idea that salvation = โobedience + Christ.โ
It is Christ alone, by grace alone, through faith alone.
The Blood of Christ Is the ONLY Accepted Payment for Sin
Colossians 1:20 (KJV)
โHaving made peace through the blood of his crossโฆโ
Peace with God was not made throughโฆ
Law-keeping
Water baptism
Repentance of sins
Good works
Obedience
Commandment-keeping
It was made โthrough the blood of His cross.โ
Hebrews 9:22 (KJV)
โโฆwithout shedding of blood is no remission.โ
Remission = forgiveness.
Your obedience cannot shed blood.
Christโs obedience DID.
Salvation Is a Gift Because the Payment Is Already Finished
Romans 6:23 (KJV)
โโฆthe gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.โ
A gift cannot be bought.
If you contribute, it stops being a gift.
The Only Proper Response to His Blood Is BELIEF
Paulโs gospel centers on ONE finished transactionโฆ
1 Corinthians 15:3โ4 (KJV)
โโฆChrist died for our sinsโฆ was buried, andโฆ rose againโฆโ
Noticeโฆ
He didnโt die to help you finish it.
He didnโt die to enable you to earn it.
He died FOR your sins, because you could not pay for them.
This is why Paul saysโฆEphesians 2:8โ9 (KJV)
โFor by grace are ye saved through faithโฆ
Not of worksโฆ lest any man should boast.โ
No one in heaven will ever say,
โI obeyed well enough.โ
They will say,
โChrist paid it all.โ
But What About Obedience? Does It Matter?
YESโbut not as currency for salvation.
After salvation, obedience belongs in the category ofโฆ
โข service,
โข sanctification,
โข growth,
โข reward,
โข walk,
โข relationship,
โข edification
โฆbut NOT as the price of salvation!
Titus 3:5 (KJV)
โNot by works of righteousness which we have doneโฆโ
Our works do not save us.
His work on the cross does.
Salvation cannot be bought with obedience.
Obedience is not the currencyโblood is.
Christ purchased salvation entirely with His blood.
Our works cannot add to or complete His finished work.
Salvation is a free gift, received by faith alone.
After salvation, obedience is part of our walk, not the payment.
