RICH OR POOR — WE ALL END UP THE SAME

(An Eternal Perspective for the Body of Christ)

“For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.”

INTRODUCTION

The world measures life by status, success, and substance, but Scripture—rightly divided—reveals a sobering truth: death levels all men. Whether rich or poor, all stand equal in the grave. Yet Dispensational truth goes further—what matters most is not what you have on earth, but who you are in Christ.
Pauline revelation shifts our focus from temporary possessions to eternal position in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

Today, we will see 9 DISPENSATIONAL TRUTHS that expose the emptiness of earthly wealth and magnify eternal grace.

COMMON DEPARTURE
Ecclesiastes 12:7; Hebrews 9:27
Truth: Death comes to all—no exceptions.

A. Same End – Rich and poor alike return to dust
B. Same Appointment – Death is divinely appointed
C. Same Reality – Wealth cannot delay death
Dispensational Insight:
Physical death is universal, but eternal destiny differs based on God’s revealed program.

CARRIED NOTHING
1 Timothy 6:7; Job 1:21
Truth: Nothing material follows us beyond the grave.

A. No Possessions – Earthly assets stay behind
B. No Power – Status dies with the body
C. No Prestige – Titles mean nothing in eternity
Pauline Emphasis:
Only what is done in Christ carries eternal value (1 Corinthians 3:13).

CORRUPTING RICHES
1 Timothy 6:9–10; Mark 8:36
Truth: Wealth can deceive and destroy.

A. Desire for Riches – Leads to temptation
B. Deception of Riches – Blinds spiritual vision
C. Destruction by Riches – Pierces men with sorrows
Dispensational Warning:
Paul does not condemn money—he condemns misplaced affection.

CROSS-LEVELING GRACE
Romans 3:22–24; Galatians 3:28
Truth: Grace removes all human distinctions.

A. Same Sin – All guilty before God
B. Same Savior – Christ died for all
C. Same Standing – Justified freely by grace
Mid-Acts Truth:
In the Body of Christ, earthly class has no spiritual rank.

CHOSEN RICHES
Ephesians 1:3; Colossians 2:10
Truth: Believers already possess true riches.

A. Spiritual Blessings – Not material promises
B. Secure Position – Complete in Christ
C. Seated Placement – In heavenly places
Dispensational Distinction:
Israel was promised earthly prosperity; the Church receives heavenly riches.

CORRECT PRIORITIES
Colossians 3:1–3; 2 Corinthians 4:18
Truth: Eternal focus governs godly living.

A. Seek Above – Not things on the earth
B. Set Affections – On unseen realities
C. See Temporally – Earth fades, eternity remains
Pauline Application:
Living for eternity reshapes how we use time, money, and life.

CONTENTMENT PRINCIPLE
1 Timothy 6:6–8; Philippians 4:11
Truth: Godliness with contentment is great gain.

A. Satisfied Hearts – Rest in Christ
B. Simple Needs – Food and raiment suffice
C. Strong Faith – Trust God’s provision
Dispensational Living:
Grace teaches us contentment, not covetousness.

COMING JUDGMENT
2 Corinthians 5:10; Romans 14:12
Truth: Believers will give account—not for sin, but service.

A. Works Tried – Fire tests motives
B. Rewards Given – Not salvation questioned
C. Worth Revealed – Eternal value measured
Clarity:
The Judgment Seat of Christ is for reward, not condemnation.

CHRIST-CENTERED HOPE
Titus 2:13; Colossians 1:27
Truth: Christ—not wealth—is our hope.

A. Living Hope – Christ in you
B. Lasting Hope – Eternal glory ahead
C. Liberating Hope – Freedom from worldliness
Pauline Triumph:
Our hope is not riches below, but glory above.

CONCLUSION

The grave proves one undeniable truth:
Rich or poor—we all end up the same physically.
But spiritually, there is a vast difference between those in Adam and those in Christ.
Grace teaches us to live lightly in this world and firmly for eternity.
