β€œREMEMBER YOU ARE DUST”

(A Call to Biblical Humility in the Dispensation of Grace)
Genesis 3:19 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

In a world obsessed with pride, self-exaltation, and personal greatness, God reminds man of a sobering truth: we are dust.

This statement was given under Law, yet the principle of humility remains timeless.
In the Dispensation of Grace, humility is not enforced by lawβ€”but produced by grace.

Romans 12:3 – β€œNot to think of himself more highly than he ought to think…”

β‘ DUST’S ORIGIN β€” Our Created Beginning
Genesis 2:7

Formed from dust – Man is not self-made.
Fashioned by God – Value comes from the Creator.
Fragile by nature – Humanity is dependent, not sovereign.
Dispensational Truth: Creation precedes Law and Graceβ€”showing man’s constant dependence on God.

β‘‘DUST’S OFFENSE β€” Our Corrupted Condition
Genesis 3:19

Sin brought death – Pride produced the fall.
Sentence declared – God’s judgment under Law.
Separation experienced – Fellowship broken.
Law exposed sin; Grace later provides redemption.

β‘’DUST’S OUTCOME β€” Our Physical End
Ecclesiastes 12:7

Body returns to dust
Life is temporary
Death is certain
Even in Grace, physical death remainsβ€”but spiritual death is removed in Christ.

β‘£DUST’S OBSERVATION β€” Our Humbling Perspective
Psalm 103:14

God remembers our frame
Man forgets his frailty
Pride blinds reality
Grace teaches humility, not arrogance.

β‘€DUST’S OPPOSITION β€” God Resists the Proud
James 4:6

Pride invites resistance
Humility invites grace
Self-exaltation blocks growth
Not a salvation issueβ€”but a fellowship and service issue in this dispensation.

β‘₯DUST’S OFFERING β€” A Humble Life Presented
Romans 12:1

Living sacrifice
Submitted service
Surrendered will
Grace motivates voluntary humility, not forced submission.

⑦DUST’S OPPORTUNITY β€” God Uses the Lowly
1 Corinthians 1:27–29

Weak things chosen
Foolish things confound
No flesh should glory
God’s program today magnifies grace, not human merit.

⑧DUST’S ORIENTATION β€” Our Heavenly Identity
1 Corinthians 15:47–49

First man: earthly
Second Man: heavenly
Believers bear Christ’s image
Though made of dust, believers are destined for glory.

⑨DUST’S OVERCOMING β€” From Dust to Glory
Philippians 3:20–21

Glorified bodies promised
Transformation assured
Humility rewarded
Grace does not end in dustβ€”it ends in glory.

CALL TO ACTION

Humble yourself before God
Serve without self-exaltation
Live daily remembering grace, not greatness

Colossians 3:12 – β€œPut on… humbleness of mind.”

CONCLUSION

We are dust by creation, sinners by nature, redeemed by grace, and destined for glory.
The Christian life is not about thinking less of yourself, but thinking rightly of yourself in Christ.

Galatians 6:14 – β€œGod forbid that I should glory, save in the cross…”

FINAL THOUGHTS

Dust reminds us who we are
Grace reminds us whose we are
Humility prepares us for reward

From dust… to destiny… by grace alone.
