ONCE SAVED, ALWAYS SAVED IN THE DISPENSATION OF GRACE

INTRODUCTION

In every dispensation, God reveals truth according to His sovereign planโ€”but in the Dispensation of Grace, He unveils the eternal security of the believer in Christ. Many wrestle with this question: โ€œCan a saved person lose salvation?โ€ But Scripture, rightly divided, reveals that salvation in this age is by grace, through faith, in Christ alone, and preserved not by manโ€™s performance, but by Godโ€™s promise. OSAS is not a license to sinโ€”but a liberation from fear.

Let us examine Nine Eternal Truths that affirm the security of believers in this current age.

THE PROMISE OF ETERNAL SALVATION

God promised eternal lifeโ€”not temporary life.

A. The Sure Promise (Titus 1:2)
God cannot lie; His promise of eternal life is unbreakable.

B. The Secure Provision (John 10:28)
Jesus gives eternal lifeโ€”no one can pluck the believer out of His hand.

C. The Settled Permanence (Romans 6:23)
Eternal life is a gift, not a loan that can be taken back.

THE POSITION OF THE BELIEVER IN CHRIST

In Grace, salvation is about position, not performance.

A. Positioned in Christ (Ephesians 2:6)
We are seated with Christโ€”already spiritually placed in heaven.

B. Protected in Christ (Colossians 3:3)
Our life is hid with Christ in God.

C. Preserved in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)
We are made new; this identity is irreversible.

THE PURCHASE OF CHRISTโ€™S BLOOD

Eternal security is grounded in a perfect, final sacrifice.

A. The Complete Sacrifice (Hebrews 10:14)
He perfected forever them that are sanctified.

B. The Cleansing Sacrifice (1 John 1:7)
His blood cleanses all sinโ€”not just some.

C. The Covenant Sacrifice (Hebrews 9:12)
Eternal redemption was obtained once for all.

THE PLEDGE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

The sealing of the Spirit guarantees salvation until completion.

A. The Divine Deposit (Ephesians 1:13โ€“14)
The Spirit is the earnestโ€”the down payment of our inheritance.

B. The Divine Dwelling (1 Corinthians 6:19)
The Spirit indwells permanently, not conditionally.

C. The Divine Delivery (Ephesians 4:30)
Sealed unto the day of redemptionโ€”not until failure.

THE PRESERVATION BY GOD THE FATHER

The Father Himself keeps the believer.

A. The Father Guards (1 Peter 1:5)
We are kept by the power of God.

B. The Father Guarantees (Jude 1:1)
We are preserved in Christ Jesus.

C. The Father Grants Assurance (Romans 8:15โ€“16)
The Spirit bears witness that we are Godโ€™s children.

THE PROTECTION FROM CONDEMNATION

Salvation removes condemnation completely.

A. No Condemnation Now (Romans 8:1)
Not โ€œless,โ€ but none.

B. No Cancellation Later (John 5:24)
Believers will not come into condemnation.

C. No Condition Attached (Romans 8:33โ€“34)
No charge can be laid against Godโ€™s elect.

THE PERFORMANCE IS GODโ€™S, NOT OURS

The keeping of salvation is God's responsibility.

A. God Initiates Salvation (Philippians 1:6)
He who began the work will finish it.

B. God Illuminates the Believer (Titus 2:11โ€“12)
Grace teaches holinessโ€”not fear of losing salvation.

C. God Insulates from Falling Away (1 Thessalonians 5:23โ€“24)
He will preserve the believer blameless.

THE PURPOSE OF THIS DISPENSATION

The Dispensation of Grace centers on free, secure salvation.

A. Salvation Is by Grace Alone (Ephesians 2:8โ€“9)
Works never secure; works never threaten salvation.

B. Salvation Is Apart from Law (Romans 6:14)
Law brought condemnation; grace brings liberation.

C. Salvation Is Abundant in Mercy (Titus 3:5)
Not by works of righteousness.

Illustration: You cannot โ€œbreakโ€ a system you didnโ€™t create.

THE POTENTIAL OF A CHANGED LIFE

Eternal security leads to sanctification, not sinfulness.

A. Stability Produced (1 Corinthians 15:58)
Secure believers become steadfast.

B. Service Provoked (Galatians 5:13)
Liberty leads to loveโ€”not license.

C. Spirituality Promoted (Romans 12:1โ€“2)
Transformation flows from gratitude.

CONCLUSION

OSAS is not a Baptist doctrineโ€”it is a Bible doctrine, rightly divided in the Dispensation of Grace. We are saved by grace, secured by Christ, sealed by the Spirit, and sustained by the Father. Fearful salvation is not biblical salvation. Eternal security fuels worship, not worldliness.

CALL TO ACTION

Trust the gospel of grace fully.

Thank God for eternal security daily.

Teach others the rightly divided truth with boldness.

Live godlyโ€”not to stay saved, but because you are saved.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Stop doubting what God settled.
Stop fearing what God finished.
Start living what grace provides.
