MY SIN β€” HIS SACRIFICE

(The Willing Death of Christ for the Guilty)
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

The cross was not an accident, nor merely the act of wicked men.
It was the deliberate, loving choice of the Son of God to bear the guilt of sinners.
Rightly divided Scripture reveals:
Man is the cause of the cross (sin)
Christ is the chooser of the cross (grace)
Today we will see MY SIN β€” HIS SACRIFICE, and why salvation is received, not achieved.

PERSONAL GUILT – My Sin Put Him There
Romans 3:23; Isaiah 53:6

A. Universal Condemnation – All have sinned (Rom 3:23)
B. Individual Accountability – My sin, not just mankind’s (Isa 53:6)
C. Honest Confession – Salvation begins with owning guilt
Dispensational Insight:
Law exposes sin; grace provides the Savior (Romans 5:20).

PROPHESIED SUFFERING – The Cross Was Foretold
Isaiah 53:4–6; Psalm 22:16

A. Foreknown Pain – Christ’s suffering was predicted
B. Foreordained Plan – God planned redemption before time
C. Fulfilled Prophecy – Christ completed what was written
Dispensational Insight:
Prophecy pointed forward; grace looks back at the finished work.

PUNISHING SUBSTITUTION – He Took My Place
2 Corinthians 5:21; Galatians 3:13

A. Sinless Substitute – Christ knew no sin
B. Sacrificial Exchange – My sin, His righteousness
C. Satisfied Justice – God’s wrath fully paid
Dispensational Insight:
Substitution is the heart of Paul’s gospel (1 Cor 15:3).

PURPOSEFUL SACRIFICE – He Chose the Cross
John 10:17–18; Hebrews 12:2

A. Voluntary Death – No man took His life
B. Victorious Endurance – He endured the shame
C. Willing Love – Love, not nails, held Him
Dispensational Insight:
Grace emphasizes Christ’s willingness, not man’s worthiness.

PAID IN FULL – Nothing Left to Add
John 19:30; Hebrews 10:10

A. Finished Work – β€œIt is finished”
B. Final Offering – Once for all
C. Faith’s Foundation – No works required
Dispensational Insight:
The Church Age stands on a completed sacrifice, not repeated rituals.

PERSONAL FAITH – Believe, Don’t Perform
Romans 4:5; Ephesians 2:8–9

A. Faith Alone – Believe the gospel
B. Free Gift – Salvation is not earned
C. Full Assurance – Faith rests in Christ alone
Dispensational Insight:
Pauline salvation is by faith without works.

POWERFUL RESURRECTION – He Rose for Me
1 Corinthians 15:4; Romans 4:25

A. Proof of Payment – Resurrection confirms acceptance
B. Promise of Life – We live because He lives
C. Present Hope – New life now, glory later
Dispensational Insight:
The risen Christ is the Head of the Body (Colossians 1:18).

PERMANENT SALVATION – Saved Forever

Romans 8:1; Ephesians 1:13–14

A. No Condemnation – Justified fully
B. New Position – In Christ
C. Never Lost – Sealed by the Spirit
Dispensational Insight:
Grace secures, law threatensβ€”right division removes fear.

PROPER RESPONSE – Grateful Living
Romans 12:1; 2 Corinthians 5:14–15

A. Thankful Worship – β€œThank You, Jesus”
B. Transformed Life – Not to be saved, but because saved
C. Truthful Testimony – Proclaim the gospel
Dispensational Insight:
Service flows from salvation, never toward it.

CONCLUSION

The cross declares two truths:
My sin was serious
His grace was greater
He didn’t die because I deserved it
He died because He loved me
