Β JESUS ENDURED IT ALL β€” SO YOU COULD LIVE FOREVER

(The Suffering Savior and the Finished Work)
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

Many people sentimentalize the cross but misunderstand its purpose.
Jesus did not suffer to inspire us merelyβ€”He suffered to save us completely.
Every strike, every whip, every nail, and every thorn was intentional, substitutionary, and sufficient.

Today we will see WHY Jesus endured it all and WHAT His suffering accomplished for us in this Dispensation of Grace (Ephesians 3:1–2).

PROPHESIED SUFFERING
Isaiah 53:3–5

A. Predicted in Scripture – Christ’s suffering was foretold
B. Planned by Sovereignty – Not accidental, but appointed
C. Pointed to Salvation – For our transgressions, not His
Dispensational Insight:
Israel’s prophets foresaw Messiah’s suffering; Paul explains its saving purpose.

PUNISHING STRIPES
Isaiah 50:6; Matthew 27:26

A. Brutal Beating – Roman scourging
B. Blood Shed – Life poured out
C. Burden Borne – Our chastisement upon Him
Dispensational Insight:
The stripes paid sin’s penaltyβ€”not for healing miracles today, but for justification (Romans 5:9).

PIERCING NAILS
Psalm 22:16; John 20:25

A. Hands Pierced – Deeds judged
B. Feet Pierced – Path paid for
C. Helpless Position – Complete surrender
Dispensational Insight:
The cross satisfied divine justice once for all (Hebrews 10:10).

PAINFUL THORNS
Matthew 27:29; Genesis 3:18

A. Crown of Curse – Thorns from the Fall
B. Mocked Kingship – Ridiculed authority
C. Man’s Rebellion – Placed upon His brow
Dispensational Insight:
Christ bore the curse of Adam so we could receive grace (Galatians 3:13).

PLEADING PRAYERS
Luke 22:44; Hebrews 5:7

A. Agony in Gethsemane – Soul anguish
B. Submission to the Father – β€œNot my will”
C. Strength to Suffer – Obedience unto death
Dispensational Insight:
His obedience fulfilled the Lawβ€”we are saved by grace, not obedience (Romans 5:19).

PAINFUL DEATH
Matthew 27:46; Romans 6:23

A. God-Forsaken Cry – Sin separation
B. Wages Paid – Death demanded
C. Wrath Satisfied – Justice complete
Dispensational Insight:
Christ died for our sins, not as an example, but as a substitute (1 Corinthians 15:3).

PROCLAIMED FINISH
John 19:30

A. β€œIt Is Finished” – Debt paid
B. Nothing Added – No works required
C. Full Redemption – Complete salvation
Dispensational Insight:
Salvation is finished, not progressive (Ephesians 2:8–9).

PROVEN RESURRECTION
1 Corinthians 15:4; Romans 4:25

A. Tomb Empty – Death defeated
B. Truth Confirmed – Gospel validated
C. Triumph Assured – Life guaranteed
Dispensational Insight:
The resurrection secures our eternal justification.

PERSONAL RESPONSE
Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 1:13

A. Believe the Gospel – Trust Christ alone
B. Receive Salvation – No rituals required
C. Rejoice in Assurance – Sealed forever
Dispensational Insight:
Believers today are sealed, not probationary (Ephesians 4:30).

CONCLUSION

Jesus did not suffer so we could try harder.
He suffered so we could trust completely.
Every drop of blood declares: β€œPaid in full.”
Every wound testifies: β€œGrace alone.”
