INTRODUCTION

In an age of spiritual compromise, personality worship, and religious systems, Scripture is unmistakable:Bowing belongs to Christ alone.Not churches. Not traditions. Not leaders. Not self.
“Neither is there salvation in any other.” — Acts 4:12

Dispensational truth teaches us who we bow to, when, and why—and today, in the Dispensation of Grace, our allegiance is singular.

 

THE PERSON WHO IS EXALTED (Christ Alone)

Philippians 2:9

A. Supremely Raised – God exalted Christ above all (Ephesians 1:20–21)

B. Singularly Recognized – One mediator only (1 Timothy 2:5)

C. Sovereignly Reigning – Authority given to Christ (Colossians 1:18)

We bow because God exalted Him, not because men elected Him.

 

THE POSITION WE EMBRACE (Submission)

Romans 14:11

A. Voluntary Submission – Willing bowing today (Romans 12:1)

B. Universal Submission – All will bow eventually (Isaiah 45:23)

C. Victorious Submission – Enemies subdued (1 Corinthians 15:25)

Grace bows now—judgment bows later.

 

THE PROHIBITION AGAINST MEN (No Human Authority)

Psalm 118:8

A. Pastors Are Limited – Not lords over faith (2 Corinthians 1:24)

B. Popes Are Mortal – All flesh is grass (1 Peter 1:24)

C. Prophets Are Tested – Scripture judges all (1 John 4:1)

Respect leadership—never worship it.

 

THE PROBLEM OF RELIGIOUS PRIDE

Colossians 2:18

A. Self-Exaltation – Flesh seeks attention (Luke 18:11–12)

B. Spiritual Intimidation – Control replaces truth (Matthew 23:4)

C. Scriptural Manipulation – Verses abused (2 Peter 3:16)

Pride bows to self, not Christ.

 

THE PURCHASE THAT REDEEMED US

1 Corinthians 6:20

A. Blood Paid – Redemption secured (Ephesians 1:7)

B. Bondage Broken – Law no longer rules us (Romans 6:14)

C. Believers Bought – We belong to Christ (Galatians 2:20)

We bow because we were bought.

 

THE PRINCIPLE OF RIGHT DIVISION

2 Timothy 2:15

A. Audience Matters – Israel ≠ Church (1 Corinthians 10:32)

B. Application Matters – Context defines doctrine (Romans 15:4)

C. Administration Matters – Grace differs from Law (Ephesians 3:2)

Confusion bows to clarity when Scripture is rightly divided.

 

THE POWER OF GRACE

Titus 2:11–12
A. Grace Saves – Not works (Ephesians 2:8–9)

B. Grace Teaches – Godliness today (Romans 6:1–2)

C. Grace Secures – Eternal life assured (Romans 8:38–39)

Grace bows to Christ—not performance.

 

THE PROMISE OF FUTURE GLORY

Revelation 19:16
A. King Revealed – Christ returns visibly (Revelation 1:7)

B. Kingdom Restored – Earthly reign coming (Luke 1:32–33)

C. Knees Compelled – All acknowledge Him (Isaiah 2:11)

The world will bow—whether willing or forced.

 

THE PERSONAL DECISION REQUIRED

Romans 10:9

A. Confession Required – Jesus is Lord

B. Confidence Rested – Faith in His work

C. Commitment Rendered – Life surrendered (Galatians 2:20)

Salvation begins when self bows.

 

CONCLUSION

Every knee will bow.The only question is when and why.Grace bows in worship.Judgment bows in defeat.
