𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗬 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧?

𝗛𝗢𝗪 𝗧𝗢 𝗕𝗘 𝗙𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗘𝗗 𝗪𝗜𝗧𝗛 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗢𝗟𝗬 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧?

(Ephesians 5:18; Galatians 5:16; Colossians 3:16)

𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Many believers misunderstand what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit. Some think it’s about speaking in tongues, miracles, or emotional experiences. But from a Dispensationalist perspective, being filled with the Spirit is not about seeking signs (which belonged to Israel’s program) but about being controlled and empowered by God’s Spirit through His Word for the Body of Christ today.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 (Eph. 5:18)

Present Responsibility – It’s a daily walk, not a one-time event.

Personal Requirement – Each believer is addressed, not just leaders.

Practical Result – Spirit control produces Christlike living.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗹𝗲𝘀𝗵

Sinful Desires – The flesh lusts against the Spirit (Gal. 5:17).

Selfish Deeds – Works of the flesh lead to corruption.

Spiritual Defeat – Carnality quenches the Spirit’s work.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁

Surrendered Will – Yielding to God’s authority.

Submissive Walk – Allowing the Spirit to guide choices.

Sanctified Witness – Spirit-filled life points others to Christ.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗻𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗱 (Col. 3:16)

Scripture Saturation – The Word of Christ dwelling richly in us.

Sound Speech – Speaking truth instead of vain babbling.

Spiritual Songs – Joyful praise flows from Word-filled hearts.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘀𝘁 (Gal. 5:22–23)

Fruit of Love – Genuine care for others.

Fruit of Longsuffering – Patience under trials.

Fruit of Loyalty – Faithfulness in service.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

Grieving the Spirit – Through sin and rebellion.

Quenching the Spirit – Ignoring conviction and truth.

Resisting the Spirit – Rejecting His leading through Scripture.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿

Supplication – Depending on God daily.

Sincerity – Honest communion with the Father.

Steadfastness – Perseverance in prayer strengthens filling.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽

Shared Faith – Encouraging one another in grace.

Shared Focus – Edifying the Body, not self.

Shared Fruit – Building unity through Spirit-led living.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝘁𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴

Bold Speech – Declaring Paul’s gospel without fear.

Balanced Spirit – Speaking truth in love.

Biblical Stand – Not ashamed of the gospel of grace.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘀𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

Sealed by the Spirit – Eternal security in Christ (Eph. 1:13).

Settled in Salvation – Confidence comes from Christ’s work, not ours.

Strengthened in Standing – Spirit confirms our identity in Christ.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲

Motivated by Grace – Serving from love, not law.

Manifesting Good Works – Spirit leads to edifying actions.

Ministering with Gifts – Using Spirit-enabled abilities.

𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗿𝘆

Hope of Heaven – Spirit points us to the blessed hope (Titus 2:13).

Honor of Christ – The Spirit glorifies Christ, not man.

Harmony of Purpose – All things working toward God’s eternal plan.

𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻

Being filled with the Spirit is not about emotional outbursts or signs and wonders but about living under the Spirit’s control through God’s Word rightly divided. The Spirit leads us to Christlikeness, empowers us for service, and assures us of our eternal hope.

𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻

Surrender – Yield daily to the Spirit’s control.
Study – Let the Word of Christ dwell richly in you.
Shine – Walk in the Spirit so others may see Christ in you.
