𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬, 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗟, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧 — 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗟𝗬 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘

𝗕𝗢𝗗𝗬, 𝗦𝗢𝗨𝗟, 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗦𝗣𝗜𝗥𝗜𝗧 — 𝗥𝗜𝗚𝗛𝗧𝗟𝗬 𝗗𝗜𝗩𝗜𝗗𝗘𝗗 𝗨𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥 𝗚𝗥𝗔𝗖𝗘

(1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV — “And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.”)

𝗜𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗗𝗨𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:

Man is a triune being — created in the image of a triune God. God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; man is body, soul, and spirit. But because of sin, man’s harmony was broken. Through Christ’s finished work revealed to Paul, God made a way for man to be restored — not through religion, but through revelation in the dispensation of grace.
Sadly, many confuse the distinctions of man’s nature because they fail to rightly divide the Word of Truth (2 Tim. 2:15). Let us examine man’s composition from a dispensational viewpoint, so we can understand how salvation affects each part of our being.

POINT 1: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗔𝗡 — 𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗘𝗦𝗜𝗚𝗡

(Genesis 2:7; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 4:12)

God’s design of man was perfect. He was made to commune, connect, and continue with God eternally.

Body Formed – “The LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground” (Gen. 2:7).
→ The body is the house — the outer man that contacts the world.

Soul Fashioned – “And man became a living soul” (Gen. 2:7).
→ The soul is the seat of personality, emotions, and decisions.

Spirit Filled – “Breathed into his nostrils the breath of life” (Gen. 2:7).
→ The spirit is the element of fellowship — the part that communes with God.

Divine Distinction – Hebrews 4:12 declares that the Word can divide between soul and spirit — they are not the same.

Functional Design – The spirit was to rule, the soul to respond, and the body to reflect God’s image.

Dispensational Truth: In the beginning, man was under innocence, walking with God freely — but that fellowship broke under sin, needing redemption through grace later revealed to Paul.

POINT 2: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗢𝗙 𝗠𝗔𝗡 — 𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗥𝗨𝗣𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡

(Romans 5:12; Ephesians 2:1-3; 1 Corinthians 15:22)

Sin entered through Adam, and all mankind died — not physically at once, but spiritually.

Spirit Deadened – “Dead in trespasses and sins” (Eph. 2:1).
→ The spirit no longer fellowships with God — it’s cut off.

Soul Dominated – “Fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind” (Eph. 2:3).
→ The soul now follows fleshly desires rather than divine direction.

Body Defiled – “Death passed upon all men” (Rom. 5:12).
→ The body becomes subject to corruption and mortality.

Darkened Understanding – “Their foolish heart was darkened” (Rom. 1:21).
→ Without the Spirit’s light, man becomes blind and self-centered.

Doctrinal Deception – False teachers in other dispensations confuse soul salvation with physical deliverance.
→ Only Paul reveals the spiritual restoration through the gospel of grace (Rom. 16:25).

Dispensational Truth: Under Law, men tried to reform the flesh. Under Grace, God regenerates the spirit (Titus 3:5).

POINT 3: 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗙𝗨𝗟𝗟𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗢𝗙 𝗖𝗛𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗧 — 𝗛𝗜𝗦 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗘 𝗗𝗘𝗟𝗜𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗡𝗖𝗘

(2 Corinthians 5:17; Colossians 2:10; Romans 8:10-11)

In this dispensation, salvation through Christ brings a threefold transformation — spirit quickened, soul renewed, body secured for future glorification.

Spirit Regenerated – “Quickened together with Christ” (Eph. 2:5).
→ The believer’s spirit is made alive by the Holy Spirit.

Soul Renewed – “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom. 12:2).
→ The soul grows in sanctification through right division and sound doctrine.

Body Reserved – “The Spirit... shall also quicken your mortal bodies” (Rom. 8:11).
→ Glorification awaits at the Rapture — our blessed hope (1 Thess. 4:16-17).

Complete in Christ – “Ye are complete in Him” (Col. 2:10).
→ Nothing is lacking in grace; salvation covers all three parts of man.

Correctly Divided Commission – Paul’s message (2 Cor. 5:18-20) reconciles man’s whole being to God — not through works, but through faith in Christ alone.

Dispensational Truth: Only through Paul’s gospel do we understand full positional salvation — spirit saved, soul being sanctified, body awaiting glorification.

𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗖𝗟𝗨𝗦𝗜𝗢𝗡:

Beloved, man’s body, soul, and spirit were designed to work in divine order, but sin reversed that order. Religion reforms the body, philosophy feeds the soul, but only Christ regenerates the spirit. Under the dispensation of grace, God offers total transformation — from death to life, from darkness to light, from flesh to faith.

𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗧𝗢 𝗔𝗖𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡:

Don’t just be religious — be regenerated!
Study the Word rightly divided (2 Tim. 2:15).
Teach your children and brethren the difference between soul salvation and physical deliverance.
Let the Spirit lead, the Word guide, and Christ be glorified in every part of your being.

God formed your body,
Furnished your soul,
Filled your spirit.
Sin fractured it all,
But grace fixed it through Christ!
