ABORTION vs. MURDER

A Biblical Examination of Innocent Blood & God’s Grace
Key Texts: Proverbs 6:16–17; Romans 1:18; Romans 3:24; 1 Corinthians 6:11

INTRODUCTION

In our generation, sin is often rebranded, renamed, and redefined. What Scripture calls evil, society calls choice. What God calls bloodguiltiness, man calls medical procedure.

Yet the Word of God is clear: God hates the shedding of innocent blood (Proverbs 6:17).
At the same time, the gospel of grace offers forgivenessβ€”even for the gravest sins (1 Corinthians 6:11).

Today we will rightly examine ABORTION and MURDER, not to excuse either, but to expose truth and exalt Christ.

DEFINITIONAL DECEPTION
Isaiah 5:20

A. Renamed Sin – Evil is relabeled to soften guilt
B. Redefined Violence – Language hides reality
C. Rejected Truth – God’s definitions are dismissed
Dispensational Insight:
God never changes His moral standardsβ€”even when society does.

DELIBERATE DESTRUCTION
Exodus 20:13

A. Planned Action – Both involve forethought
B. Purposeful Ending – Life is intentionally stopped
C. Personal Responsibility – Choice does not remove guilt
Truth:
Intent mattersβ€”both are intentional acts against life.

DEFENSELESS DEATH
Psalm 82:3–4

A. No Ability to Resist – Victims are helpless
B. No Voice to Cry Out – Innocence is silent
C. No Consent Given – Life is taken without choice
Insight:
God always sides with the innocent and defenseless.

DIVINE IMAGE VIOLATED
Genesis 1:27

A. God’s Image Bearers – Every human reflects God
B. God’s Creative Authority – Life belongs to Him
C. God’s Moral Ownership – Man is not the giver of life
Key Truth:
To destroy human life is to assault God’s design.

DECALOGUE DISOBEYED
Romans 13:9

A. Clear Command Given – β€œThou shalt not kill”
B. No Cultural Exception – God’s law stands firm
C. No Medical Loophole – Murder remains murder
Dispensational Note:
We are not under the Law for justification, but God’s moral truth remains true.

DEATH’S DECEPTION EXPOSED
Proverbs 14:12

A. Sin Promises Relief – But delivers regret
B. Choice Claims Freedom – But results in bondage
C. Culture Celebrates Death – God condemns it
Reality:
What feels right can still be fatally wrong.

DIVINE WRATH DESERVED
Romans 1:18

A. God Sees Innocent Blood
B. God Judges Hidden Sin
C. God Will Not Ignore Evil
Warning:
Unrepented sinβ€”no matter how acceptedβ€”faces God’s wrath.

DELIVERING GRACE DECLARED
Romans 3:24

A. Grace Freely Given – Not earned
B. Justification in Christ – Fully paid
C. Redemption Complete – Nothing lacking
Hope:
No sin is greater than the blood of Christ.

DEFINING RESPONSE REQUIRED
2 Corinthians 5:20

A. Repentance Offered – Turn to God
B. Reconciliation Available – Peace through Christ
C. Renewal Promised – New life in grace
Dispensational Emphasis:
Salvation today is by grace through faith alone.

CONCLUSION

Abortion and murder both involve the shedding of innocent bloodβ€”and God is clear about His hatred for it.
Yet the greater truth is this:
Christ’s blood was shed to forgive sinners, not to excuse sin, but to redeem souls.
The gospel does not minimize sinβ€”it overcomes it.

CALL TO ACTION

To the Lost:
Believe the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:3–4)
To the Broken:
Come to Christβ€”there is forgiveness
To the Believer:
Stand for truth with grace, not hatred
To the Church:
Preach truth boldly and mercy freely

FINAL THOUGHTS
Sin cannot be justified
Truth cannot be silenced
Grace cannot be exhausted

β€œWhere sin abounded, grace did much more abound.”
β€” Romans 5:20
