A SOUL CANNOT BE SAVED WITHOUT JESUS

1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION

Creation itself teaches us dependence.
A bird needs wings.
A fish needs water.
A soul needs a Savior.

In this Dispensation of Grace, salvation is not by works, not by religion, and not by effortβ€”
it is by faith alone in Christ alone.

β€œNeither is there salvation in any other…” β€” Acts 4:12

I. DESIGNED DEPENDENCE
Isaiah 43:7
God created man to depend on Himβ€”not himself.

A. Created for fellowship – God made man for relationship (Gen. 1:26)
B. Created with limitation – Man is not self-sufficient (Rom. 5:12)
C. Created with purpose – To glorify God, not self (Isa. 43:7)
Dispensational truth: Man has always needed God, but salvation is now revealed fully in Christ.

II. WINGLESS WITHOUT CHRIST
John 15:5
A bird without wings cannot flyβ€”man without Christ cannot live.

A. No spiritual elevation – Sin keeps man grounded (Rom. 3:23)
B. No spiritual escape – No flight from judgment (Heb. 9:27)
C. No spiritual power – Apart from Christ, nothing (John 15:5)

III. WATERLESS WITHOUT LIFE
John 4:14
A fish dies without waterβ€”man dies without life in Christ.

A. Thirst of the soul – Religion cannot satisfy (Isa. 55:1–2)
B. Source of life – Christ alone gives living water (John 7:37–38)
C. Sustained by grace – Not effort, but supply (2 Cor. 12:9)

IV. CROSS-CENTERED SALVATION
1 Corinthians 15:3
Salvation flows from the cross alone.

A. Christ died – For OUR sins (Isa. 53:5)
B. Christ substituted – In OUR place (2 Cor. 5:21)
C. Christ satisfied – God’s justice (Rom. 3:24–26)
Dispensational truth: The Gospel was revealed clearly to Paul (Gal. 1:11–12).

V. BURIAL THAT BURIED SIN
1 Corinthians 15:4a
The burial proves sin is dealt with.

A. Sin was removed – Not reformed (Heb. 10:17)
B. Old man crucified – Not improved (Rom. 6:6)
C. Debt canceled – Fully paid (Col. 2:14)

VI. RESURRECTION POWER
1 Corinthians 15:4b
Without the resurrection, there is no Gospel.

A. Proof of victory – Death defeated (1 Cor. 15:55)
B. Promise of life – Eternal security (Rom. 8:11)
C. Position in Christ – Seated heavenly (Eph. 2:6)

VII. FAITH, NOT FORM
Ephesians 2:8–9
Salvation is received, not achieved.

A. Not by works – Ever (Titus 3:5)
B. Not by religion – Ever (Gal. 2:16)
C. Not by rituals – Ever (Col. 2:16)
Dispensational truth: Works belong to Israel’s programβ€”not the Church.

VIII. GRACE-AGE SECURITY
Ephesians 1:13
Those who believe are sealed forever.

A. Sealed by the Spirit – Not by performance
B. Saved eternally – Not temporarily (Rom. 8:38–39)
C. Secure until glory – Not probation (Phil. 1:6)

IX. ONLY ONE GOSPEL
Galatians 1:6–9
There is no backup Gospel.

A. No other message – Jesus only (Acts 4:12)
B. No other mediator – Christ alone (1 Tim. 2:5)
C. No other hope – Grace alone (Col. 1:27)
