WHAT RIGHTEOUSNESS WILL SAVE YOU FROM HELL?

INTRODUCTION

Many people believe good behavior, religion, or church involvement can save them.
But the Bible clearly teaches there are two righteousnessesβ€”

Man’s righteousness and God’s righteousness.
Only one saves from hell.
β€œAll our righteousnesses are as filthy rags…” (Isaiah 64:6, KJV)

RECOGNITION OF SIN
Man must first see his true condition before God.

Revealed Guilt – All stand condemned in Adam
Romans 3:23
Real Corruption – Sin affects the whole man
Romans 3:10
Required Judgment – Sin demands death
Romans 6:23

REJECTION OF SELF-RIGHTEOUSNESS
Human effort can never meet God’s standard.

Reliance on Works – Trusting deeds instead of Christ
Romans 10:3
Religious Confidence – Depending on rituals and law
Galatians 2:16
Resulting Condemnation – Works bring no justification
Romans 4:5

REVELATION OF GOD’S RIGHTEOUSNESS
God revealed a righteousness apart from the Law.

Revealed Apart from Law – Not Moses, but Christ
Romans 3:21
Rooted in Grace – A free gift, not a reward
Romans 3:24
Revealed Through Paul – Mystery truth for today
Romans 16:25

REDEMPTION BY CHRIST
Salvation rests on Christ’s finished work alone.

Sacrificial Blood – Payment fully made
Ephesians 1:7
Substitutionary Death – Christ died for sinners
2 Corinthians 5:21
Satisfied Justice – God fully pleased
Romans 3:25

RECEIVING BY FAITH ALONE
Salvation is received, not achieved.

Faith Without Works – No effort added
Ephesians 2:8–9
Faith in the Gospel – Death, burial, resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Faith Reckoned Righteousness – God counts it so
Romans 4:3

RIGHTEOUSNESS IMPUTED
God credits righteousness to the believer’s account.

Imputed, Not Earned – Christ’s righteousness credited
Romans 4:6
Identified in Christ – Position, not performance
Philippians 3:9
Inseparable Standing – Forever secure
Romans 8:1

RESULTING PEACE & ASSURANCE
Grace produces confidence, not fear.

Peace with God – War is over
Romans 5:1
Permanent Salvation – No condemnation
Romans 8:38–39
Present Assurance – Know you are saved now
1 John 5:13

REJECTION OF MIXED GOSPELS
Grace plus works is no gospel at all.

Corrupted Message – Grace diluted by law
Galatians 1:6–7
Confused Ministers – Mixing Israel and the Church
2 Timothy 2:15
Condemned Additions – Works nullify grace
Galatians 5:4

RESULTING ETERNAL LIFE
God’s righteousness ends in life, not judgment.

Right Now Possession – Eternal life is present tense
John 5:24
Resurrection Hope – Guaranteed future glory
1 Corinthians 15:52
Reigning with Christ – Heavenly destiny
Ephesians 2:6

CALL TO ACTION

Stop trusting your goodness
Stop trusting religion
Start trusting Christ alone
β€œBelieve on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved.”
(Acts 16:31, KJV)

CONCLUSION

Self-righteousness climbs.
God’s righteousness comes down.
Self-righteousness ends in hell.
God’s righteousness ends in eternal life.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Hell is not avoided by trying harder
Heaven is secured by trusting Christ
Right doctrine produces right assurance
Today is the day of grace

β€œFor he hath made him to be sin for us… that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
(2 Corinthians 5:21, KJV)
