BUILT BY MEN, NOT BY CHRIST

Why Man-Made Religion Cannot Save
Key Text: Galatians 1:6–9 (KJV)
Right Division Anchor: 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV)
β€œIf any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.” β€” Galatians 1:9

INTRODUCTION

Not everything called church is built by Christ.
Not every religious system preaches the gospel that saves today.

Dispensational truth reveals:
One Lord
One Body
One Gospel for this dispensation (Ephesians 3:1–9)
Anything added to, altered from, or substituted for Paul’s gospel is man-made religionβ€”no matter how ancient, organized, or sincere.
1 Corinthians 3:11 | Ephesians 2:20

A. One Foundation β€” Jesus Christ alone
B. No Additions β€” Not councils, popes, prophets
C. No Substitutes β€” Not rituals or traditions
Insight:
The Church, the Body of Christ, is built on Pauline revelation, not religious succession.

AUTHORITY β€” God’s Word or Men’s Words
Colossians 2:8 | Titus 1:14

A. Scripture Supreme β€” God’s Word final
B. Tradition Rejected β€” Commandments of men
C. Leaders Fallible β€” Only Scripture is infallible
Dispensational Truth:
Authority shifts when Paul’s epistles are ignored.

GOSPEL β€” Grace Proclaimed or Grace Perverted
1 Corinthians 15:1–4 | Romans 11:6

A. Grace Alone β€” No works mixed
B. Faith Alone β€” No rituals required
C. Christ Alone β€” Finished work sufficient
Pauline Line:
Any gospel with works is not another wayβ€”it is another gospel.

SYSTEM β€” Liberty in Christ or Legal Bondage
Galatians 5:1 | Colossians 2:20–23

A. Rules Replace Relationship
B. Performance Replaces Position
C. Fear Replaces Freedom
Warning:
Legal religion always enslavesβ€”even when it looks holy.

HOPE β€” Heaven Promised or Earth Promised
Philippians 3:20 | Ephesians 1:3

A. Heavenly Calling β€” Not earthly kingdom
B. Spiritual Blessings β€” In heavenly places
C. Rapture Hope β€” Not tribulation survival
Dispensational Distinction:
Israel’s hope is earthly; the Body of Christ’s hope is heavenly.

PRIESTHOOD β€” One Mediator or Many Mediators
1 Timothy 2:5 | Colossians 1:18

A. Christ the Head β€” No human replacement
B. Christ the Mediator β€” No intermediaries
C. Christ the Intercessor β€” No priestly caste
Pauline Clarity:
The Body of Christ has direct accessβ€”no hierarchy required.

SALVATION β€” Secured in Christ or Sustained by Works
Ephesians 1:13–14 | 2 Timothy 1:9

A. Sealed by the Spirit
B. Saved by Grace
C. Secure Forever
Truth:
If salvation can be lost, it was never grace.

FRUIT β€” Spiritual Growth or Religious Pride
Galatians 2:20 | Colossians 2:18–19

A. Christ Living In Us
B. Flesh Put Down
C. Glory Given to God
Pauline Measurement:
True fruit flows from union with Christ, not religious effort.

WARNING β€” Another Gospel Brings a Curse
Galatians 1:8–9 | 2 Corinthians 11:3–4

A. Serious Consequences β€” Eternal stakes
B. Strong Language β€” β€œLet him be accursed”
C. Clear Separation β€” Truth vs. error
Dispensational Soberness:
Love warns. Silence condemns.

CONCLUSION

Religion built by men:
Adds works
Elevates leaders
Changes the gospel

The Church built by Christ:
Preaches grace
Exalts Christ
Stands on Paul’s gospel

CALL TO ACTION

Believe the gospel of grace (1 Cor. 15:1–4)
Study Paul’s epistles first
Rightly divide Scripture
Come out of religious confusion
Stand boldly for the truth

FINAL THOUGHTS

Christ is the only foundation
Scripture is the final authority
Grace is the only gospel
Legalism enslaves
Our hope is heavenly
Christ alone mediates
Salvation is secure
True fruit is spiritual
Another gospel is accursed

BUILT BY MEN MAY IMPRESSβ€”
BUILT BY CHRIST ALONE SAVES.
