PROSPERITY GOSPEL vs PAUL’S GOSPEL β€”

PROMISES OF WEALTH OR THE POWER OF THE CROSS

Key Text: Galatians 1:11–12 (KJV)
β€œBut I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man.”

INTRODUCTION

In the last days, many pulpits promise comfort without the cross, wealth without repentance, and success without sacrifice.

But Scriptureβ€”rightly dividedβ€”reveals only one gospel for this dispensation: Paul’s Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).

Today, we will expose the sharp contrast between the Prosperity Gospel Preacher and the Pauline Gospel Preacher through 9 dispensational truths.

PROMISE β€” RICHES vs REDEMPTION
1 Timothy 6:5; Romans 3:24 (KJV)

A. Prosperity promises material gain
B. Paul proclaims free justification
C. Graceβ€”not goldβ€”saves sinners
Insight:
The true gospel promises salvation, not success.

PRIORITY β€” COMFORT vs THE CROSS
Luke 9:23; Galatians 2:20 (KJV)

A. Prosperity avoids suffering
B. Paul embraces crucifixion with Christ
C. The cross precedes the crown
Dispensational Truth:
No cross preached = no Christ proclaimed.

POWER β€” SELF vs THE SAVIOR
2 Timothy 3:5; Romans 1:16 (KJV)

A. Prosperity empowers self-confidence
B. Paul exalts gospel power
C. God’s power saves, not motivation
Pauline Emphasis:
The gospel works because Christ finished the work.

PURPOSE β€” SUCCESS vs SANCTIFICATION
Philippians 3:7–8; Romans 12:1–2 (KJV)

A. Prosperity measures blessings by wealth
B. Paul measures gain by Christ
C. Spiritual growth outweighs material growth
Right Division:
God’s goal is conformity to Christ, not comfort in the world.

PLEA β€” SEED MONEY vs SOULS
Acts 20:33–35; 2 Corinthians 11:7–9 (KJV)

A. Prosperity pleads for offerings
B. Paul preached freely
C. The gospel is not for sale
Pauline Integrity:
True ministers give, not exploit.

PREACHING β€” SMOOTH vs SOUND
Romans 16:18; 2 Timothy 4:2–3 (KJV)

A. Prosperity flatters ears
B. Paul confronts sin
C. Truth wounds before it heals
Dispensational Warning:
Smooth preaching often hides false doctrine.

PATH β€” EMPOWERMENT vs DENIAL
Matthew 16:24; Colossians 3:1–3 (KJV)

A. Prosperity builds self-esteem
B. Paul teaches self-denial
C. Christ increases as self decreases
Reality:
The flesh is not fixedβ€”it is crucified.

POSSESSION β€” EARTHLY vs ETERNAL
Matthew 6:19–21; Ephesians 1:3 (KJV)

A. Prosperity treasures the now
B. Paul treasures the heavenlies
C. Eternal riches surpass temporary wealth
Pauline Hope:
Believers are already richβ€”in Christ.

PROOF β€” CROWD vs CONVERT
2 Timothy 3:12; 1 Corinthians 15:58 (KJV)

A. Prosperity attracts crowds
B. Paul produces disciples
C. Faithfulness proves truth
Dispensational Conclusion:
Popularity is not validationβ€”truth is.

CONCLUSION

The Prosperity Gospel:
Centers on man
Avoids suffering
Promises earthly gain

The Pauline Gospel:
Centers on Christ
Embraces the cross
Promises eternal life
β€œFor we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord.” (2 Corinthians 4:5)
