FIRST ADAM vs. SECOND ADAM

(The Fall of Man vs. the Fulness of Christ)
Key Text: 1 Corinthians 15:45 (KJV)
“And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.”

INTRODUCTION

The Bible presents two representative men upon whom all humanity rests:
Adam — the head of the old creation
Christ — the head of the new creation

Every person is born in the First Adam, but only those who believe the gospel are placed into the Second Adam.
Rightly dividing the Word reveals two Adams, two standings, two destinies.

BEGINNING vs. BIRTHRIGHT
Genesis 2:7; 1 Corinthians 15:47

A. First Adam — Formed from Dust – Earthly origin
B. Second Adam — From Heaven – Heavenly origin
C. Different Starting Points – Natural vs. spiritual
Dispensational Insight:
Adam began earthly life; Christ introduces heavenly life.

BREATHED LIFE vs. BESTOWED LIFE
Genesis 2:7; John 10:10

A. Adam Received Life – Dependent existence
B. Christ Gives Life – Independent authority
C. Temporary vs. Eternal – Mortal vs. everlasting
Only Christ can give life; Adam could only lose it.

BONDAGE vs. BLESSING
Romans 5:12; Romans 5:17

A. Adam Brought Sin’s Reign – Death entered the world
B. Christ Brings Grace’s Reign – Life abounds
C. Condemnation vs. Justification
One offense condemned many; one sacrifice saves many.

CORRUPTION vs. CLEANSING
Psalm 51:5; 1 Corinthians 6:11

A. Adam Corrupted Nature – Sin passed to all
B. Christ Cleanses Completely – Washed, sanctified
C. Flesh vs. New Creation
Adam polluted; Christ purified.

CURSE vs. CROSS
Genesis 3:17; Galatians 3:13

A. Adam Brought the Curse – Pain, toil, death
B. Christ Bore the Curse – Became sin for us
C. Law’s Penalty vs. Grace’s Payment
The cross answered the curse.

DEATH vs. DELIVERANCE
Romans 6:23; Hebrews 2:14

A. Adam Led to Physical & Spiritual Death
B. Christ Destroyed Death’s Power
C. Fear vs. Freedom
Death reigns in Adam; deliverance reigns in Christ.

EARTHLY IMAGE vs. ETERNAL IMAGE
1 Corinthians 15:49; Colossians 3:10

A. Adam’s Image — Corruptible
B. Christ’s Image — Incorruptible
C. What We Were vs. What We Are Becoming
Believers will fully bear Christ’s image.

FEDERAL HEADSHIP vs. FULL REDEMPTION
Romans 5:18–19; Ephesians 1:7

A. Adam Represented All Men Naturally
B. Christ Represents Believers Spiritually
C. Imputed Sin vs. Imputed Righteousness
You are either in Adam or in Christ.

NATURAL MAN vs. NEW MAN
Ephesians 2:1–6; 2 Corinthians 5:17

A. Adam Produces the Old Man – Dead in sins
B. Christ Creates the New Man – Alive in grace
C. Flesh Identity vs. Heavenly Position
The Second Adam creates a new species—the Body of Christ.

CONCLUSION

In Adam — death reigns
In Christ — life reigns
The issue is not trying to fix Adam,
but believing to be placed into Christ.

Stop living from your Adamic identity
Start standing in your Christ position

Adam fell — Christ fulfilled
Adam failed — Christ finished
Adam lost — Christ redeemed

You don’t improve Adam…
you must be placed into the Second Adam.
Choose wisely where you stand —
because eternity depends on which Adam you are in.
