THE BLOOD ON THE DOORPOSTS

(Salvation Is Not About Worthiness β€” It Is About the Blood)

Exodus 12:13; Romans 3:24–25

INTRODUCTION

From Egypt to Calvary, God has never saved people by examining their character, conduct, or credentialsβ€”He saves by covering them with blood.
In Exodus 12, God did not inspect who was inside the house.

He looked for the blood on the doorposts.
That event was typical, temporary, and propheticβ€”pointing forward to Christ’s finished work, now revealed fully through Paul in this Dispensation of Grace (Ephesians 3:2).

Today we will see 9 BLOOD-BASED TRUTHS that show salvation has never been about human worthinessβ€”but always about God’s provision.

BLOOD REQUIRED
Exodus 12:7, 13

A. God demanded blood, not behavior
Obedience did not cancel judgmentβ€”blood did.
B. No blood meant no protection
Sincerity without blood still brought death.
C. Blood was God’s stated condition
Salvation was on God’s terms, not man’s feelings.
Dispensational Insight:
God begins redemption with substitution, not self-reform.

BLOOD REVEALED
Hebrews 9:22

A. Sin demands death
Without blood, there is no remission.
B. Blood reveals the cost of sin
Grace is free to us, costly to God.
C. Blood exposes man’s helplessness
No blood, no escapeβ€”no exceptions.
Dispensational Insight:
The Law exposes sin; blood answers it.

BLOOD RECOGNIZED
Exodus 12:13

A. God said, β€œWhen I SEE the blood”
Not when He sees faithfulness, effort, or goodness.
B. Blood was outward and visible
Salvation was not hidden, mystical, or internal only.
C. Blood marked divine ownership
That house belonged to God.
Dispensational Insight:
God responds to what He sees, not what we claim.

BLOOD REPLACED
1 Corinthians 5:7

A. Christ became our Passover
The lamb pointed to the Lord.
B. One sacrifice replaced many lambs
The shadow gave way to substance.
C. Temporary blood gave way to eternal blood
Christ’s blood never needs repeating.
Dispensational Insight:
Israel’s lamb becomes the Church’s Lord.

BLOOD REMOVES
Romans 3:25

A. Christ’s blood propitiated God
God’s wrath was fully satisfied.
B. Sin was judged at the cross
Not postponedβ€”paid in full.
C. The believer stands justified
Declared righteous, not made worthy.
Dispensational Insight:
Justification is legal, complete, and final.

BLOOD REDEEMS

Ephesians 1:7

A. Redemption means purchased freedom
We were bought, not borrowed.
B. The price was blood, not gold
Heaven’s currency is crimson.
C. Redemption is present possession
β€œWe HAVE redemption”—not hope for it.
Dispensational Insight:
Redemption is a current reality, not a future reward.

BLOOD RECKONS
Romans 5:9

A. God counts believers as righteous
Based solely on blood.
B. Judgment passes over the justified
Wrath cannot touch the blood-covered.
C. Salvation is settled, not suspended
No fear of condemnation.
Dispensational Insight:
Grace gives assurance, not anxiety.

BLOOD REIGNS
Romans 6:14

A. We are not under Law but Grace
Blood removed us from condemnation.
B. Grace reigns through righteousness
Not fear, not works.
C. Blood establishes a new rule of life
Service flows from security.
Dispensational Insight:
Grace reigns because blood has spoken.

BLOOD REMAINS
Hebrews 13:12

A. Christ’s blood never loses power
Eternal efficacy.
B. No additional payment required
No sacraments, no penance, no works.
C. Our standing is forever secure
The blood still speaks.
Dispensational Insight:
What saved us is what keeps us.

CONCLUSION

God never asked Israel,
β€œWho are you?”
β€œWhat have you done?”
β€œAre you worthy?”
He asked one question only:
β€œIs the blood applied?”

Today, God asks the sameβ€”
Not about religion.
Not about morality.
Not about church membership.
Only this:
Have you trusted the blood of Christ alone?

CALL TO ACTION

STOP trusting your goodness
STOP trusting your performance
START trusting Christ’s finished work
Believe the gospel:
1 Corinthians 15:1–4
Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again.

FINAL THOUGHTS

Worthiness never saved anyone
Blood has always been God’s answer
Grace is grounded in sacrifice
Faith applies what God provides
Assurance rests on Christ, not self
Salvation is settled forever
Judgment passes where blood is present
Grace reigns today
The blood still speaks

Only the blood of Jesus can cover us.
β€œBeing now justified by his blood…” β€” Romans 5:9
