STAY PLUGGED-IN TO THE TRUE POWER SOURCE

β€œWithout Me Ye Can Do Nothing”
John 15:1–5 (Contrast) | Pauline Application

INTRODUCTION

Many believers quote John 15:5 without rightly dividing the Word (2 Timothy 2:15). While Christ spoke this truthfully to Israel concerning fruit-bearing in the Kingdom program, the Church, the Body of Christ, has a distinct power source revealed later through the Apostle Paul.

Today we will learn how believers today stay spiritually poweredβ€”not by self-effort, rituals, or religionβ€”but by our position and provision IN CHRIST.

POSITIONED IN CHRIST

1 Corinthians 12:13; Ephesians 2:6
Power begins with POSITION, not performance.

A. Placed by the Spirit – Not plugged in by effort, but by Spirit baptism
1 Corinthians 12:13
B. Seated in Heavenly Places – Power flows from position
Ephesians 2:6
C. Secure in Christ – No unplugging possible
Colossians 3:3
Dispensational Insight:
Israel was told to abide; the Church is already IN Christ.

PROVIDED BY GRACE
2 Corinthians 12:9; Romans 5:2
Grace is God’s operating system for today.

A. Sufficient Grace – God’s power replaces human weakness
2 Corinthians 12:9
B. Standing in Grace – Power flows continuously
Romans 5:2
C. Strengthened by Grace – Not law, not works
2 Timothy 2:1

POWERED BY THE SPIRIT

Romans 8:9–11
The Holy Spirit is the indwelling power source.

A. Indwelling Presence – Christ lives in us
Romans 8:10
B. Life-Giving Power – Enables victory over sin
Romans 8:11
C. Not Flesh-Driven – Flesh produces burnout
Romans 8:8

PROGRAMMED BY THE WORD
Colossians 3:16
Wrong doctrine = short circuit.

A. Rightly Divided Truth – Prevents confusion
2 Timothy 2:15
B. Pauline Doctrine – Church-age instructions
Romans 16:25–26
C. Renewed Mind – Power flows through understanding
Romans 12:2

PRODUCING SPIRITUAL FRUIT
Galatians 5:22–23
Fruit is the RESULT, not the requirement.

A. Fruit of the Spirit – Not fruit of effort
Galatians 5:22
B. Walking in the Spirit – Staying connected
Galatians 5:16
C. No Condemnation – Freedom fuels fruit
Romans 8:1

PROTECTED FROM POWER FAILURE
Ephesians 6:10–13
Disconnection invites defeat.

A. Strength in the Lord – Not in self
Ephesians 6:10
B. Spiritual Armor – Protects power flow
Ephesians 6:11
C. Standing, Not Striving – Victory posture
Ephesians 6:13

PURPOSED FOR GOOD WORKS
Ephesians 2:10
Works follow power, not produce it.

A. Created Unto Good Works – After salvation
Ephesians 2:10
B. Prepared by God – Not human ambition
Titus 3:8
C. Reward-Motivated – Not salvation-motivated
2 Corinthians 5:10

PATIENT IN WEAKNESS
Romans 8:18
Power does not remove trialsβ€”it sustains through them.

A. Suffering with Hope – Glory ahead
Romans 8:18
B. Groaning Yet Growing – Power under pressure
Romans 8:23
C. Helped by the Spirit – Even in prayer
Romans 8:26

PRAISING THROUGH DEPENDENCE
Philippians 4:13
True strength flows from reliance on Christ.

A. Christ-Centered Strength – β€œThrough Christ”
Philippians 4:13
B. Contentment Learned – Power in all conditions
Philippians 4:11–12
C. Confidence in Christ – Never powerless
Colossians 1:29

CONCLUSION

Jesus rightly told Israel, β€œWithout Me ye can do nothing” (John 15:5).
Paul reveals to the Church that Christ now lives IN us, supplying constant power by grace through the Spirit.
We don’t strive to stay plugged inβ€”we live from the power already provided IN CHRIST.

CALL TO ACTION

Stop depending on the flesh
Start standing in grace
