WHAT SAVES vs. WHAT DOESN’T

(Understanding the Difference Matters)
1 Corinthians 15:1–4; Ephesians 2:8–9

INTRODUCTION

Confusion about salvation is not a small issue—it is an eternal one. Many sincerely believe that good works, religious rituals, or church involvement contribute to salvation. But rightly divided Scripture reveals a sharp contrast between what saves and what does not (2 Timothy 2:15).

Today, we will clearly divide WHAT SAVES vs. WHAT DOESN’T, according to Pauline revelation for the Body of Christ.

PROVISION — Christ Alone Saves
Romans 3:24; 1 Corinthians 15:1–4

A. Perfect Sacrifice – Christ fully paid sin’s debt
Hebrews 10:12
B. Finished Crosswork – Nothing left to add

C. Free Gift – Salvation is received, not achieved
Romans 6:23
Dispensational Insight: Salvation today is grounded solely in Christ’s completed work, not ongoing performance.

PERSON — Jesus Alone Saves
Acts 4:12; 1 Timothy 2:5

A. One Savior – No substitutes

B. One Mediator – No priests or systems

C. One Sufficiency – Christ is enough

Dispensational Insight: The Church is saved by a Person, not a process.

PROMISE — Salvation Is by Grace
Ephesians 2:8–9

A. Grace Given – Unearned favor

Dispensational Insight: Grace and works cannot coexist in justification.

PERSUASION — Faith Alone Receives

PERFORMANCE — Good Works Do Not Save

PRACTICES — Religious Acts Do Not Save

Dispensational Insight: Salvation is a position, not a probation.

PURPOSE — Good Works Follow Salvation

PERSPECTIVE — Rest in What Christ Has Done

A. Rest from Striving – No fear of failure

Dispensational Insight: Grace teaches us to rest, not to run on a treadmill of effort.

CONCLUSION

Salvation is not about what you do for God, but about what Christ has already done for you.

Good works

Prayer as a means of salvation

CALL TO ACTION

Believe the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1–4)
