FROM DEATH TO ETERNAL LIFE — GOD’S GIFT THROUGH CHRIST

Romans 6:23 | 1 Corinthians 15:1–4 (KJV)

INTRODUCTION (WHY THIS MESSAGE MATTERS)

The image before us tells a dispensational story of mankind:
Before the Flood – long life, yet still death
After the Flood – shortened life, still death
After the Sacrifice – eternal life through Christ
No matter the age, era, or dispensation—sin always brings death.

But now, in this Dispensation of Grace, God offers ETERNAL LIFE as a FREE GIFT, not through works, law, or religion—but through the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Romans 6:23 — “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

DEFINITION OF DEATH
Romans 6:23a

A. Earned Payment – Death is a wage, something deserved
B. Universal Penalty – All men sin in every age
C. Unavoidable Reality – Longevity never removed death
Long life never defeated sin—only Christ did.

DECLINE OF DAYS
Genesis 5:27; Psalm 90:10

A. Before the Flood – 900+ years, yet still died
B. After the Flood – 70–120 years, still dying
C. Divine Limitation – God shortened life, not sin

Shorter life did not fix the problem—sin remained.

DOMINION OF SIN
Romans 5:12

A. Entered by One Man – Adam
B. Extended to All Men – No exceptions
C. Executed by Death – Reigned until Christ
Death ruled every dispensation until the Cross.

DELIVERY BY THE CROSS
Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21

A. Christ Died for Sinners – Substitution
B. Christ Bore Sin – Imputation
C. Christ Finished the Work – Completion
The Cross did what the Law never could.

DECLARATION OF THE GOSPEL

C. Resurrection Proclaimed – Victory over death
