WHEN GOD IS ON YOUR SIDE: NO GIANT CAN STAND

(Dispensational Lessons from David and Goliath)

INTRODUCTION

The story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 17) is often misused as a β€œself-help” or β€œname-it-claim-it” message.

But when rightly divided, we learn:
David represents God’s chosen king for Israel
Goliath represents the enemy defying God’s people
The victory was of the LORD, not human confidence

For the Church today, the battle is spiritual, not physical (Ephesians 6:12).
We do not fight giants with stonesβ€”but with sound doctrine and faith in Christ.

DIVINE SELECTION
1 Samuel 16:12–13

A. God Chooses the Unlikely – Man looks on the outward appearance
1 Samuel 16:7
B. God Anoints for Purpose – David was chosen before the battle
Psalm 89:20
C. God Acts Sovereignly – Victory begins with God’s will
Romans 9:16
Dispensational Truth:
God’s plans are not based on human meritβ€”whether for Israel then or the Church now.

Colossians 2:8

Fear retreats where faith stands
Satan is a defeated enemy
Christ is the believer’s final victory
