β€œRIGHTLY DIVIDING THE GOSPEL: BEFORE AND AFTER THE CROSS”

INTRODUCTION

The greatest confusion in Christianity today is not denying the Bible, but not dividing it. God gave different messages to different people at different times, yet one Bible. When believers fail to rightly divide (2 Timothy 2:15), they mix commands, gospels, and audiences, producing doctrinal chaos.

Truth must be proclaimed in its proper place, time, and audience.

The Cross stands as the dividing line of Scripture.

DISTINCTION OF DISPENSATIONS
God works through distinct administrations in time.

A. Different Dealings – God changed how He deals with man
Ephesians 3:2
B. Different Directives – Commands are not universal
Hebrews 1:1
C. Different Dispensations – Each period has divine stewardship
1 Corinthians 9:17

DELINEATION OF THE CROSS
The Cross marks a major doctrinal transition.

A. Before the Cross – Kingdom promised to Israel
Matthew 10:5–7
B. At the Cross – Christ finished redemption
John 19:30
C. After the Cross – Grace revealed through Paul
Romans 16:25

DECLARATION OF THE KINGDOM GOSPEL
The Kingdom Gospel was earthly and national.

A. Promised to Israel – Not Gentiles
Matthew 15:24
B. Preached by the Twelve – Not Paul
Matthew 4:23
C. Proclaimed with Signs – Healing, miracles
Matthew 10:8

DELIVERY OF THE GRACE GOSPEL
The Grace Gospel is heavenly and universal.

A. Revealed to Paul – A mystery before hidden
Galatians 1:11–12
B. Received by Faith Alone – No works
Ephesians 2:8–9
C. Related to the Cross Alone – Death, burial, resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:1–4

DIVISION OF THE MESSENGERS
God used different apostles for different ministries.

A. The Twelve to Israel
Galatians 2:7–9
B. Paul to the Gentiles
Romans 11:13
C. Separate Spheres, Same Lord
1 Corinthians 3:10

DISPARITY OF DOCTRINES
Mixing doctrines leads to confusion and bondage.

A. Law vs Grace
Romans 6:14
B. Works vs Faith
Romans 4:5
C. Earthly Kingdom vs Heavenly Calling
Philippians 3:20

DANGER OF DISTORTION
Not rightly dividing results in false teaching.

A. Corrupting the Gospel
Galatians 1:6–7
B. Confusing the Believer
1 Corinthians 14:33
C. Condemning the Conscience
Colossians 2:16–18

DEFENSE OF β€œMY GOSPEL”
Paul boldly defended the Grace Gospel.

A. Personal Ownership – β€œMy Gospel”

Romans 2:16
B. Perfected Revelation – The full counsel
Acts 20:27
C. Permanent Salvation – Sealed in Christ
Ephesians 1:13

DECLARATION OF THE GOSPEL THAT SAVES
Only one gospel saves today.

A. Defined Clearly – Death, burial, resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:1–4
B. Declared Freely – No price required
Romans 3:24
C. Delivered Faithfully – Until the Rapture
2 Timothy 4:2

CALL TO ACTION

Believe the Gospel of the Grace of God
Acts 20:24
Trust Christ aloneβ€”not religion, rituals, or works.
Study to show thyself approved
2 Timothy 2:15
Stand firm even if others resist
2 Timothy 3:12

CONCLUSION

The Cross did not end the Bibleβ€”it divided it.
Israel’s Kingdom message paused.
Grace was revealed.
Salvation is now by faith alone in Christ alone.

Right doctrine produces right assurance, right liberty, and right service.
