WHEN YOU FEEL LIKE QUITTING: REMEMBER THE CROSS

INTRODUCTION

Many believers today feel weary, wounded, and worn out. In the Dispensation of Grace, we are not promised easeβ€”but we are promised enablement. When quitting feels tempting, we must look back to the Cross, not inward to our strength. Christ endured infinitely more so that we might endure faithfully.

Hebrews 12:3 (KJV) – β€œFor consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.”

β‘  THE BETRAYAL HE BORE
Jesus was betrayedβ€”yet He did not quit.

Personal betrayal – Rejected by a close companion (Judas)
Matthew 26:14–16
Prophetic betrayal – Foretold in Scripture
Psalm 41:9
Purposeful betrayal – Led to our redemption
Acts 2:23
Dispensational Truth: God used betrayal to accomplish grace, not the Kingdom.

β‘‘ THE BROKENNESS HE BEARED
Jesus was emotionally and physically broken.

Broken in spirit – Sorrowful unto death
Matthew 26:38
Broken by men – Rejected and mocked
Isaiah 53:3
Broken for mercy – Our healing purchased
Isaiah 53:5

β‘’ THE TORTURE HE TOOK
Christ endured cruelty without retaliation.

Scourged unjustly – Roman brutality
John 19:1
Silent submission – No self-defense
Isaiah 53:7
Substitutionary suffering – For sinners
1 Peter 2:24

β‘£ THE THIRST HE TASTED
The Creator thirsted for the creature.

Physical thirst – Human suffering real
John 19:28
Prophetic fulfillment – Scripture completed
Psalm 69:21
Purposeful thirst – To satisfy our soul
John 4:14

β‘€ THE TIREDNESS HE TORE THROUGH
Jesus experienced exhaustion.

Wearied in body – Sat by the well
John 4:6
Wearied in mission – Constant opposition
Mark 3:20
Willing endurance – Finished the work
John 17:4

β‘₯ THE BLEEDING HE BLED
Salvation required bloodβ€”not effort.

Blood was necessary – No remission without it
Hebrews 9:22
Blood was sufficient – Once for all
Hebrews 10:10
Blood was personal – β€œHe loved me”
Galatians 2:20
Grace Truth: We are saved by what bled, not what we build.

⑦ THE NAILING HE ENDURED
Christ was fixed to the Cross willingly.

Nailed hands – Work of redemption
Psalm 22:16
Nailed feet – Finished journey
Luke 23:33
Nailed record – Our sins canceled
Colossians 2:14

⑧ THE PURPOSE HE COMPLETED
He did not quitβ€”He finished.

Finished redemption – Sin fully paid
John 19:30
Finished prophecy – Law fulfilled
Romans 10:4
Finished foundation – Grace established
1 Corinthians 15:3–4

⑨ THE POWER WE POSSESS
Because He endured, we can continue.

Power to stand – By grace
2 Corinthians 12:9
Power to suffer – For His sake
Philippians 1:29
Power to serve – Until He comes
Titus 2:11–13

CONCLUSION

When you want to quit, look to Calvary. Christ did not quit when betrayed. He did not quit when broken. He did not quit when bleeding. And because He finished the work, you don’t have to give upβ€”you rest in His grace.

CALL TO ACTION

If you are weary: Rest in grace, not works
If you are wounded: Remember the Cross
If you are wavering: Keep standing, soldier

Galatians 6:9 (KJV) – β€œAnd let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.”

FINAL THOUGHTS

The Cross explains your strength
Grace explains your endurance
Quitting is never the answerβ€”Christ already finished

STAND FIRM. THE WORK IS DONE. THE WAR IS REAL. GRACE IS ENOUGH.
