BEWARE OF PROSPERITY GOSPEL PREACHERS

INTRODUCTION

In every dispensation, God warns His people about false teachers who corrupt His Word for personal gain. In this Dispensation of Grace, deception often comes wrapped in Bible verses, promises of wealth, and emotional manipulation. Scripture commands believers to mark and avoid those who pervert the gospel of Christ (Rom. 16:17). 
This message exposes the prosperity gospel in the light of rightly divided truth (2 Tim. 2:15).

WARNINGS AGAINST PROSPERITY PREACHERS

①PRESUMPTUOUS PREACHING
They speak without God’s authority.

Self-Appointed Speakers – They run without being sent (Jer. 23:21)
Sensational Sermons – Designed to excite, not edify (2 Tim. 4:3)
Selective Scriptures – Verses lifted out of context (2 Pet. 3:16)

②PROFIT-DRIVEN PROCLAMATION
Money, not Christ, is the motive.

Mandatory Tithes – Forced giving under fear (2 Cor. 9:7)
Mandatory Firstfruits – Old Covenant law imposed on the Church (Mal. 3 misused)
Mandatory Commitments – Pledges tied to “blessings” (1 Tim. 6:5)

③PERVERTED PASSAGES
They twist Scripture for gain.

Law Applied to Grace – Mixing dispensations (Gal. 2:7–9)
Promises to Israel Claimed by Church – Confusion of audiences (Rom. 15:4)
Prosperity Texts Abused – Ignoring context (Phil. 4:11–13)

④PLEASING THEIR OWN BELLY
They serve themselves, not Christ.

Luxury Lifestyle – Funded by manipulated saints (Rom. 16:18)
Celebrity Status – Glory given to men (John 5:44)
Covetous Conduct – Never content (Heb. 13:5)

⑤EARTHLY EMPHASIS
Their message is worldly, not heavenly.

Material Obsession – Wealth equals spirituality (Col. 3:2)
Temporal Focus – Ignoring eternal realities (2 Cor. 4:18)
Success Theology – Man-centered, not Christ-centered

⑥KINGDOM CONFUSION
They build empires, not the Body of Christ.

“Kingdom Builders” Language – Misapplied to the Church (Eph. 2:15)
Earthly Kingdom Now – Denying future literal Kingdom (Rev. 20)
Church Age Distorted – Ignoring Paul’s revelation (Eph. 3:1–9)

⑦ACCURSED ANNOUNCERS
God pronounces judgment on false gospels.

Another Gospel – Wealth added to grace (Gal. 1:6–9)
False Assurance – Promising blessing without Christ
Fear-Based Giving – Curse-driven manipulation

⑧DECEPTIVE DISCIPLES
They produce followers, not faithful believers.

Blind Leading Blind – Both fall (Matt. 15:14)
Emotional Control – Loyalty to man over truth
Discernment Destroyed – Bible replaced by slogans

⑨PAULINE PERSPECTIVE
Truth is found in the gospel of grace.

Christ Alone – Not cash, not covenants (1 Cor. 15:1–4)
Grace Alone – No works, no payments (Eph. 2:8–9)
Glory to God Alone – Not preachers (1 Cor. 1:31)

CONCLUSION

Prosperity gospel preaching is not harmless—it is damnable deception. It replaces Christ with cash, grace with gain, and truth with manipulation. God calls the Church to separate, discern, and stand firm in the gospel of grace.
