RIGHTLY DIVIDING THE RAPTURE AND THE SECOND COMING

𝐈𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍

One of the greatest causes of confusion in Bible prophecy is the failure to distinguish between the Rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of Christ. Many assume these are the same event, but Scripture — rightly divided — reveals two distinct gatherings, two distinct groups, and two distinct purposes.

In the Dispensation of Grace, the Church is promised a Rapture before wrath, while Israel and the nations endure the Tribulation before Christ returns visibly to reign.

① 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗖𝗧 𝗣𝗘𝗢𝗣𝗟𝗘

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17

A. Church Saints Identified – “In Christ” believers only. (1 Thess. 4:16)

B. Called from Heaven – The Lord descends to the air. (v.17)

C. Completed Body – The Body of Christ finished. (Eph. 1:22–23)

This is Church Age truth, not Israel.

② 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗗𝗜𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗡𝗧 𝗚𝗔𝗧𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗡𝗚

Matthew 24:29–31

A. Tribulation Saints Gathered – After the tribulation. (Matt. 24:29)

B. Angels Commissioned – Angels gather, not Christ Himself. (v.31)

C. Israel Centered – Spoken to Jewish disciples. (Matt. 24:3)

This is kingdom prophecy, not the Rapture.

③ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗦𝗧𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚

1 Thess. 5:9

A. Removed Before Wrath – Not appointed to wrath. (1 Thess. 5:9)

B. Rescued by Grace – Not appointed to wrath. (1 Thess. 5:9)

C. Ready at Any Moment – No signs required. (Titus 2:13)

Pre-Trib preserves imminence.

④ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗔𝗙𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗪𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗛

Matthew 24:30

A. Visible Appearance – Every eye shall see Him. (Matt. 24:30)

B. Victorious Arrival – Comes as King. (Rev. 19:11)

C. Vengeful Judgment – Wrath poured out. (2 Thess. 1:7–8)

This is not a secret coming.

⑤ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗛𝗘𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗡𝗟𝗬 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗡𝗚

Philippians 3:20

A. Citizenship Above – Our home is heaven. (Phil. 3:20)

B. Changed Instantly – Glorified bodies. (1 Cor. 15:51–52)

C. Comfort Given – “Comfort one another.” (1 Thess. 4:18)

The Rapture brings comfort, not terror.

Jeremiah 30:7

A. Jacob’s Trouble Defined – For Israel. (Jer. 30:7)

B. Judgment Determined – Daniel’s 70th week. (Dan. 9:27)

C. Kingdom Developed – Leads to restoration. (Rom. 11:26)

The Church is absent in this period.

⑦ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗬𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗥𝗬 𝗥𝗘𝗩𝗘𝗔𝗟𝗘𝗗

1 Corinthians 15:51

A. Previously Hidden – Not known in the Gospels. (1 Cor. 15:51)

B. Personally Revealed – Given to Paul. (Eph. 3:3–6)

C. Purely Pauline – Church doctrine. (Rom. 16:25)

Mysteries ≠ prophecy.

⑧ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗠𝗜𝗦𝗨𝗦𝗘 𝗢𝗙 𝗣𝗔𝗦𝗦𝗔𝗚𝗘𝗦

2 Timothy 2:15

A. Mixing Programs – Israel and Church confused. (Rom. 11:25)

B. Misplacing Promises – Applying prophecy to grace. (Gal. 1:6)

C. Misleading People – Fear replaces faith. (1 Thess. 4:18)

Confusion comes from poor division, not Scripture.

⑨ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗚𝗢𝗦𝗣𝗘𝗟 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗦𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗦

1 Corinthians 15:1–4

A. Christ Died – For our sins. (v.3)

B. Christ Was Buried – Sin fully dealt with. (v.4a)

C. Christ Rose Again – Justification secured. (v.4b)

Salvation determines participation in the Rapture.

𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐋𝐔𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍

The Bible clearly reveals two gatherings:

The Church is caught up before the Tribulation

Israel and tribulation saints are gathered after it

The difference is not minor — it is dispensational, doctrinal, and decisive.
