(A Pauline Warning for the Dispensation of Grace)

INTRODUCTION

Idolatry is not only carved statues and pagan temples. In the Dispensation of Grace, idolatry has evolved—from stone idols to screen idols. What once bowed knees now captures hearts, minds, time, and affection.

Paul warns the Body of Christ that anything that replaces Christ’s rightful place becomes an idol. Modern idolatry is subtle, socially accepted, and spiritually destructive.

“Covetousness, which is idolatry.” (Colossians 3:5)

An idol always enslaves its worshiper.

C. Entertainment Before Edification — Flesh prioritized

Idolatry always replaces God—not adds to Him.

Idols dull discernment.

B. Time Theft — Distracts believers
C. Truth Suppression — Keeps saints passive

Satan doesn’t need believers wicked—only distracted.

THE SANCTIFICATION GOD DESIRES

A. Renewed Mind — Transformed thinking
B. Redirected Affection — Christ-centered focus
C. Redeemed Time — Purposeful living

Sanctification dethrones idols.

THE SOLUTION IN CHRIST
Galatians 2:20; Philippians 1:21

A. Christ as Life — Not devices
B. Christ as Lord — Not algorithms
C. Christ as Satisfaction — Not entertainment

Only Christ can replace idols.

Christ must reign supreme

CONCLUSION

Modern idolatry does not ask for sacrifice—it demands attention. The believer must choose whether Christ is truly Lord, or merely one option among many.

“Little children, keep yourselves from idols.” (1 John 5:21)
