WHY WE NEED TO PUT ON THE WHOLE ARMOUR OF GOD
(A Pauline Instruction for the Body of Christ)
Ephesians 6:10β18 (KJV)
INTRODUCTION
In the Dispensation of Grace, the believerβs greatest battle is not physical, political, or culturalβit is spiritual. The Apostle Paul reveals that we are engaged in invisible warfare, not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual wickedness in high places.
God did not leave the Body of Christ defenseless. He provided the whole armour of Godβnot partial, optional, or symbolicβbut necessary, spiritual, and complete equipment for victory.
βPut on the whole armour of Godβ¦β (Ephesians 6:11)
THE REALITY OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE
Ephesians 6:12; 2 Corinthians 10:3β4
A. Invisible Enemies β Not flesh and blood
B. Intense Opposition β Satan targets doctrine and faith
C. Internal Battlefield β Mind, conscience, and walk
Ignoring warfare does not remove warfare.
THE REASON FOR THE WHOLE ARMOUR
Ephesians 6:11, 13
A. Partial Armour Fails β Exposed areas invite defeat
B. Persistent Attacks β The devil does not rest
C. Prepared Standing β Armour enables stability
God commands whole armour, not selective pieces.
THE RULER BEHIND THE ATTACKS
Ephesians 2:2; 2 Corinthians 4:4
A. Satanβs Authority β Prince of the power of the air
B. Satanβs Activity β Blinding minds
C. Satanβs Aim β Corrupt the truth
Our enemy is organized, strategic, and deceptive.
THE REVELATION OF PAULINE WARFARE
Ephesians 6:10; Romans 11:13
A. Revealed to Paul β Armour instruction not given to Israel
B. Relevant to the Church β Written to the Body of Christ
C. Rooted in Grace β Standing, not striving
This armour is for today, revealed through Paul.
THE REQUIREMENT OF RIGHT DOCTRINE
2 Timothy 2:15; Ephesians 6:14
A. Truth as Foundation β Girdle of truth
B. Teaching Protects β Doctrine stabilizes
C. Error Weakens β False doctrine removes armor
Wrong doctrine leaves believers defenseless.
THE RIGHTEOUSNESS THAT PROTECTS
Ephesians 6:14; Romans 5:1
A. Imputed Righteousness β From Christ, not works
B. Internal Assurance β Peace with God
C. Immune to Accusation β Satanβs charges silenced
Justification guards the heart.
THE READINESS OF THE GOSPEL OF PEACE
Ephesians 6:15; Romans 10:15
A. Gospel Stability β Peace establishes footing
B. Gospel Confidence β No fear of condemnation
C. Gospel Mobility β Ready to stand and speak
Peace with God produces bold standing.
THE RESISTANCE BY FAITH AND THE WORD
Ephesians 6:16β17; Romans 10:17
A. Faith Shields β Quenches fiery darts
B. Scripture Slices β Sword of the Spirit
C. Sound Belief β Faith comes by hearing
Faith and Scripture defeat deception.
THE RESOURCE OF PRAYER IN THE SPIRIT
Ephesians 6:18; Colossians 4:2
A. Continual Communication β Always praying
B. Conscious Dependence β Strength from God
C. Corporate Support β Praying for all saints
Prayer activates every piece of armour.
